I’m rolling a dragonborn bard, with the intent to take him college of valor. I’d like to play him as enough of a “somebody” that he could get us in to talk to any big shots, but not actually important or powerful enough to swing his background around with any authority.
Other than that, he’s good enough at everything to be able to help with anything. He’s beef and brains.
Hey guys. I'm playing a halfling fighter, but more ranged with the Arcane Archer subclass as we get there. He's a carpenter from a small village, so he's pretty rough and his gear is not the best - he's got a long bow as that was the only thing he could obtain at the time. I understand it means disadvantage on the shots, but I think it's also hilarious seeing a halfling with a bow the same size as him. He has aspirations to be a great adventurer and have his name in tales like he used to hear. He also carries his carpentry tools with him, so is more than happy to build or repair things when he sees them.
I'm playing a Changeling Wizard, who you probably wont see in her normal form all too often as she's fairly shy in it, maybe as she gets more confident, however, when shes using someone elses face shes far more confident. She tries to avoid combat as much as she can but is able to throw down when needed. I'm not sure which school she is going to be as yet (other than not divination).
Other than that she's pretty damn inteligent and charismatic but is a twig in the strength department.
Oh and she also has a Raven which follows her around who she talks to quite a bit.
Hi! I'm playing a Dragonborn Fighter, and I'm thinking about making him an Eldritch Knight later on. I guess compared with SpieltJoos' fighter I'd be more of a frontline guy, but if you guys aren't comfortable with class overlap Artificer would also make sense for him too.
I'd like to play as a someone who's got more book smarts than street smarts. He has a lot of training, but little experience. I also like the idea of someone who has an imposing frame but is actually softspoken and timid. Adventuring might be tough for this guy at first, but he's got to get his journeyman training done somehow!
I'm excited for this! I haven't done any PBP since middle school, and I figured this would be a great way to get my playing itch scratched while the IRL group I DM for is between sessions. Nice to meet you!
EDIT: huh, I'm not the only Dragonborn with beef and brains. Thoughts?
I mean from my expierience Dragonborn being both strong and intellegent makes sense it just probably means their wisdom is lacking which also makes sense for a fighter.
My character is pretty street smart I guess having blended in with many forms over the years so she can guide in that aspect (and I'm sure the bard has a pretty good grasp on street smarts), she's not hugely wise but is average.

Lol, ya. My lowest roll was a 14 for scores. It makes it so a valor bard is actually possible to be decent. That said, I’m not looking to overshadow anyone with scores, I’m just looking to play it as being able to help with most anything. And I don’t think it’s weird to have two different flavors of fighter. You do you.
I understand that RP can make the difference between two similar characters. If you guys are cool with it, I'm cool with it! I just wanted to make sure I'm not stepping on anyone's toes.
Nah it's all good with me too. & I am happy to change as an archer can play on a few different classes. Whether that be Ranger, Rogue or a Cleric if we need more healing.
Hello, hello! I apologize for my lateness. I had, honestly, given up on this and believed that I had not been chosen. If I had been expecting a notification I'd probably have been here sooner! In any case here's the lowdown. I intend to play a Tiefling Paladin. His father is unknown(to him) and his mother was part of a traveling musical group. She left him in a mountain village that courts both human and dwarven citizenry primarily. He was picked up from the local orphanage by an elder dwarf fellow who served as his clan's master blacksmith. He learned the craft and a deep respect for it from his foster father. After bad blood between his foster father's nephew and himself, Verax left to find a place for himself somewhere else in the world. That's how he ended up in the lumber town where our story is to begin.
I did have a couple of quirks in mind for him, although I do not know how well they'll work for the campaign. First, he won't use any weapons or armor that he, himself, did not craft. If you can't trust your own work then what can you trust? Besides, you can't sell it to someone else if you aren't willing to use it yourself. That's just bad business. Second... depending on how Tieflings are seen/treated in this world, he may keep a full face helmet on with his armor to mask his true appearance so others do not know his race. Since he speaks common and dwarvish, who would know? The helmet could be crafted so his horns look like part of the piece rather than attached to his skull, I'd imagine.
I haven't actually built the character or rolled any stats, though. I'm still debating on what subclass I'd even want to go with him. MY original inclination was Vengeance, but I can't find the right story hook to make it so with good cause.
I like the idea @Hew. A smith and a carpenter in the group - we could start our own town after we finish adventuring! Haha
As for your subclass, you have heaps of options. Devotion might work for your story you've written so far though. The tenets of devotion seem to work in well with what you've got there.
@DM - will we add our characters into a campaign for you as well?
My character's a mason btw, practiced in dwarf stonecutting. We've definitely got the ability to start a town!
HWSA, Oath of Glory might be another good option if you have access to it. It's all about self-improvement and being a hero, which I think would work nicely with your character!
I think I'll go with an Oath of Glory. It seems more in line with his character given that, as a repayment to his foster father and teacher, he'd want to prove that his way of smithing is exceptional by doing great things with the end product as his gear.
I think I'll probably go Order of Scribes as it seems to fit her character pretty well being a mutable creature herself it makes sense she'd be able to mutate her spells as well.

I've been rereading and reconsidering if Arcane Archer would work with my halfling's backstory. As he's a folk hero and not really trained, I'm not sure how he would learn the arcane skills unless we came across someone in our travels. Perhaps I should go with a Ranger or Rogue (Scout subclass)?
Welcome to our session zero thread!
This is a place we can just see how our characters work together, and what some of your goals for your character are.

Not stepping on mine, but I'm a caster so that was unlikely :)

Haha. The adventure never happens as we all set up in a field nearby to make our own town, a better town, with whatever we want in it! Haha :P

I'm gonna be honest, running a second group wasn't my first idea so this second group is going to be a slower start.
