"Hm, as I stated earlier, we heard that the Keepers on occasions offer jobs for exploring and discovering items or places of interest, and Ivory and myself were seeking employment," Ebony spoke up.

"I, also am at the moment unemployed and in dire need of money. I also would like information on a certain, Ecubi. I would be more then willing to pursue knowledge for you, in return for knowledge, and possibly some added monetary benefits." Evas holds out his right hand, webs of magical ink crisscrossed around it, converging in the middle and forming a word in the middle of his hand that means, Help. "Would you like a display of some of my magical talents?"
"Magic is of no use for us here. We have plenty," He replies, "But it could be useful in the field. The information you seek is on a particular person? If you aid one that has undergone the Beginning on a quest, we will provide you with the information you want."

"As I stated to the glassling, you may choose to either receive information or pay in return for aiding one that has gone through the Beginning, or you must go through the Beginning to become an Agent of the Candle,"He explains.

“I will go through the Beginning, along with anyone else who wants to join me. This way, we will be have a more direct contact for jobs.” Kane rubs Ivory’s head. “Thank you for wanting to help me. And Sir Kane? Sounds too knightly. Just call me Kane, or Akanos when you want my attention.”
*Kane going to steal away Ivory is Balasar isn’t careful. 😂*
"What are the benefits of becoming a Agent of the Candle? Any detriments?" Evas ponders whether he should try.
"Only by becoming an Agent of the Candle may one progress along the Path of the Torch,"He exposits, "Initial enrollment grants minor benefits, such as additional rewards for information, registry in the database so we can know you're an ally, and unlocking a few other benefits. You must experience the Beginning and finish your Spark's Quest before becoming an Agent of the Candle. The only detriments are that you may be required to aid a fellow Keeper if they need assistance and that you must complete the Spark's Quest. Knowledge is not free, after all."

"Very well,"He nods, showing next to know emotional response, "Your manual may not have mentioned this, but the title 'Sir' is reserved for members of the Knightly Order of the Seekers. As an Agent of the Candle, your factional title would be 'Agent Akanos'."
* You may need to watch him, Balasar ;) *

"Does this organization have any, enemies? I would like to know, only for the purpose of staying away from them if I decide to join."
For the first time in the conversation, this fellow's face displays an apparent emotion. His mood (if he even previously had one) darkens, becoming a mixture seriousness, disgust, and undying hatred. He waits a few seconds to make sure you are see his reaction, and then replies, "Unfortunately, yes. There are always those who would wish to stop the spread of information and education. As our saying goes, 'when we are unlearned, is when we are weak'. Tyrants of all kinds would wish to make information unreachable and destroyed. The most prominent of which are Icaernei, Vecna, and the Duergar."

Grumm tries to follow the conversation, but it quickly ascends beyond his current understanding. Agents and Orders? He had imagined some sort of reclusive library, not a matured fraternity with delineated sub-classifications... Still, it seems to him that these might be trustworthy, after a fashion. If convenient, he would lean forward and softly ask of Ebony:
"What are these Orders and Agents they speak of? And Paths? I knew we might travel, but did we already know the way?"

Ebony would lean towards Grumm.“The best I can gather is that these Keepers are like a guild of sorts? As are these Seekers perhaps? I’m assuming this beginning is like an initiation or a test to join and the path is.....going up in rank? Honestly I’m sure I’m getting things mixed up but that’s the best I can interpret.”

He nods his head and explains, "We at the Keepers have few requirements once you are initiated. Initiation requires finishing the Beginning, which comes in two parts. The first half is the Spark of Knowledge, a simple test of your knowledge of the history of the world that may be done now. The second half is the Spark's Quest, which is more difficult to complete and cannot be done in one day. You must complete a quest that we at the Keepers assign you. It will involve retrieving an artifact or investigating a past event for the guild. You are not assigned the quest until you decide you wish to begin it."
"After initiation is completed, you become an Agent of the Candle. Agents aren't required to give anything to the Keepers unless they want to progress further along the Path of the Torch, aside from granting occasional aid to a Keeper. If you ever break one of the Bases* of Truth, you must restart on the Path of the Torch."
*This usage of "Bases" refers to the plural form of the word "Basis".
He then pauses, eying those that do not wish to become Keepers, "Anything further must be discussed in confidence. Do you accept?"

Grumm nods solemnly and adopts a grave expression.
Ash smiles and mutters under his breath, barely audible "The path is not the destination."
He then addresses the keeper "I will gladly join the keepers. As for information, I have some that might be of interest..."
