@Bertolt Poking around in the debris of the wagon, you find: Rope, Hempen (50 feet), 5 torch], some heavy club-like pieces of wood, and something like looks like a whip
Onyx is pale and silent as the group regains their breath and some semblance of their senses. With the feeling of impending madness momentarily at bay, he takes a moment to peel off his tunic and tear it into two halves. Wordlessly, he wraps one of the rags around each arm. It is a slipshod job, and sections of his conspicuous scaled flesh are visible here and there, but it was enough for now. He glances around, only now realizing that he still had his holy symbol, and feeling just a little more at peace from it.
"No, that's not mine," he comments, barely glancing at the dagger. "That wagon isn't one of ours either. Too old."
He resists the urge to take a closer look at the bones.

Talion stares at the damaged wagon, "So...what happened to us? Were we drugged and dumped by the caravan owner? Why? Not simple robbery...revenge, maybe? But why us -- I've never even seen you all before this journey?"
One target maybe, and we are all caught in the same net. "Does anyone here have powerful enemies who might do this? Knowing our enemy is the first step in ending them."
He looks around, "If only this mist would clear, we could see where we are."

Sho Zuan shrugs impassively, his eyes drifting to the distant depths shrouded in fog and darkness. "I do feel it is more like ...... a test." He chooses his words reservedly and replies, "with some greater force at work." Respect for the unknown force keeps him silent, not commenting much.
He walks towards the broken wagon and inspects the ruins left behind. He gently reaches out his hand, his fingertips almost brushing over the ash that had accumulated on the decaying bones, and lowers his eyes to distinguish them carefully. Were they humanoid? How long had it been here? And any other clues to the accident that had led to this.

Erven takes a club gladly and has a look at the wagon as well, joining Sho. He tries to make out what happened to the wagon and the riders.

"Something happened here, but it isn't clear to me. I think that we need to keep moving to find out more. Let's keep out of this mist and press forward north."
@Bert Do you take the whip also? Anyone who is taking a club, the dagger, rock, and the whip just mark it down on your character sheets (yay, you get to put some equipment on there!)
You can easily tell the cart, bones, and everything else is old - this is definitely not the caravan you were part of. As for the origin of the bones, you can't really tell due to their age and decomposition.
Does everyone agree to keep moving? Or anything else to do here?
Erven picks up the whip and checks the length, “I could use this, it would do in a pinch. Does anyone else want it?” He offers the handle - “We should each have a torch and someone should take this rope as well. I think we should keep moving.” He looks ahead to the north.

K, cool. Moving on. :)
You all gut up and continue moving forward... Ervan and Sho, you are the first to hear it - chittering sounds and ripping of some sort. As you come around the bend in the road, you see a gruesome sight: there are 3 large rats digging and ripping at something on the ground. Judging by the legs and feet sticking out from under the rats, it's a humanoid of some sort. Sniffing, one of the rats stands on its hind legs and looks out at you with glowing green eyes - it immediately hisses loudly, at which point the others take notice and act similarly. The rats are large, misshapen hunks of gross: matted and splotchy fur, boils leaking pus, and some parts on their bodies have grievous wounds - bones sticking out of flesh, broken looking appendages, maggots actively feasting on open wounds...
Your eyes are then drawn to another figure, nearly invisible, about 50-60 feet further back: a jet black wolf, eyes glowing red, stands. As it sees that you notice it, it sits on its haunches and........watches.
The rats spread out a little and turn on you, it looks like they are about to attack! Please roll initiative! (rats are ordered left to right 1, 2, 3, e.g. the closest rat is R1 etc..)
Rat1 - 7. 12 Rat2 - 418 Rat3 - 1211
Map - Okay, the map squares are 5ft unless noted otherwise.
On his turn, Onyx will move diagonally one square, hefting his improvised club. His intention is to interpose himself between the rats and the rest of the party. Thus, he takes the Ready action to strike the first rat to move adjacent to him.

Hearing the gnawing, rustling sound in front of the road, Sho Zuan immediately stops in his tracks. The mist parts the path before a gory sight and the smell of decay permeates the humid air. The gigantic rats turn their heads to reveal gleaming white fangs, but what makes him feel more alarmed is the black wolf waiting patiently behind the rats, its smooth, sleek fur diffusing an eerie light in the dark night.
Sho Zuan steps back along the dirt path three squares, as he raises his left hand, holding an exposed, blood-shot eye-shaped symbol in his palm, with chill touch, two streaks of ghostly blue hands extend out, clutching at R1 and R2.
Reaper (if condition doesn't satisfy, just take the first one):
@Talion You move through your incantation for the curse, reaching down to your component pouch, but realize in horror that it's not there! However, not losing a beat, crackling energy covers your hand as you speak the arcane words and perform the correct movements. Your blast fires wide of R1, dissipating into the ground beside it - a miss! @Ervan Rushing up to the front, you brandish the whip and haul back and snap at R1. The sound of the whip startles some birds nearby and the weapon opens a grievous wound on the torso of R1. It's a hit, it's still standing but barely... @Sho Your first skeletal hand closes in on R1. The rat squawks and screeches its dismay but its cries are cut short as the hands closes in on the rat's torso. As it does, it decays at a rapid rate, turning to dust before your eyes...R1 is dusted...literally and figuratively. Before R1 passes, you see another hand materialize in front of R2. The rat backs up and screeches but it's no use - this hand also clenchs the rat and it undergoes the same treatment as the R1 - complete obliteration.
R3 snarls angrily and races towards Ervan, who has come up front. It lunges and attacks the ranger, trying to bite anything it can: Attack: 23Damage:3 The rat manages to grab onto your thigh, shaking and ripping the flesh before you brush it off - a hit!
@Bert The rat shakes its head, trying to expel the awful sounds: WIS save - 7 but it is unable to resist...it takes the damage, and continues shaking its head and shrieking loudly...
Onyx - you're in melee range with the rat - make your attack!
