"Hey there Mr or Miss Crusty. Would you and your friends mind moving to one side for a wee few? I'll give ya something to eat before we leave." the ole man keeps it very simple. He tries to coax the crustaceans into doing whats best for both of them. Not die.
The others likely hear nothing or strange noises coming from the old man whose suddely talking to aquatic creatures normally reserved for eating.
"Good afternoon! As it happens, I've enjoyed a large breakfast; however, my wife and children might enjoy something to tide them over until sevensies. I will ask the little ones to behave. You won't be too long, I hope? The Mrs. had plans to rearrange the furniture."
"You've a fine family. Sturdy by looks. Aie. I'll be quick, I simply need to retrieve something. " Ole Malik replies, while tossing over one of his last few rations (the wyrm type as that tastes better I'm sure). Malik mimics the polite claw clicks best he can with pudgy frozen digits
Turning the group, "Okey den. Think its locked or traped ? If ya good at those, come with me. Rest of yous stay" After waiting briefly, in case a single person comes, Old Malik waddles over towards the chest.
(If someone who thinks they know chests and locks comes. Malik will let them play with the box. Otherwise Malik will just open it himself)
Harley turns to see who looks confident about entering the water and unlocking the box. If others look hesitant she will enter and try to force it open.
To Katia's knowledge the only one capable to deal with locks was Red, but she would not ask her worse enemy to jump into to icy water, let alone a companion. You do not ask such things from people and she was very grateful for Harley's impressive volunteering self-sacrifice.

Red Chanter heaves a sigh, blows warm breath into her hands and rubs them together, retrieving her thieves' tools as she approaches the water.
"Well...here's hoping what we're looking for is in here!" She gets as close as possible on dry ground before stepping into the water and reaching under to feel for the lock.
The icy water would be a shock to anyone, but Harley hasn’t braved the icy north for so long to let a cold bath slow her down. She yanks the chest open with a couple of strong tugs, revealing twenty golden vials, plugged and water-tight, containing a milky white substance.
(Red, since Harley was able to open the chest and make her save, there seems to reason to risk your own fur.)
"Well that was easy," Red Chanter shrugs. "Shall we?" she turns and indicates the hall they came from, clearly intending to make her way back to the entrance.

Shagar lights up excitedly seeing the gold vials. "Indeed lets get back as quickly as as we can." She will then begin to trace their way back thru the ruins arrow nocked and at the ready keeping an eye open for more danger. Perception: 7
Katia probably would not define their journey here and all the fighting as something "easy" but was no less happy to see the vials. "Thank the crabs for us, would you?" she smiled to Malik and harried up after Shagar.
You find the exit leading out from the strange cavern unobstructed. Leaving behind animated swords, mysterious, violent creatures, and the machinations of an undead alchemist, you emerge back into the frozen world of the living. Fate seems to smile on you, granting you an uneventful trip as reward for a job well done.
When you arrive back in Syrinlya, they are able to arrange for the Buyer to teleport the antidote for frigid woe to Palebank Village. After doing so, the elf pays out the 200 gp reward on behalf of Elro Aldataur.
For those returning to Palebank Village, you find that, unfortunately, you are too late to save Tulgy. Irven and his family, however, were able to use the antidote vials and recover fully. You have the thanks of Elro Aldataur, Irven and his family, and the people of Palebank Village.
Actually, some healing had to be delivered to Hulil - after all, without her cooperation the quest could end much worse and Katia personally promised to bring the cultist-dwarf the cure (Elro had to be warned about it).
The first true adventure did not discourage Katia from pursuing adventuring career, on the contrary. And now she knew who to talk to - the people right here, in Syrinlya, and what to expect from the wilderness. Her magic proved to be useful, rather than being a dangerous neusans, so, if the expedition agrees to have her, she would stay and continue to study the great mysteries of the white.
Old Malik enjoyed the small adventure. But was feeling his age. Offering his greetings and goodbyes to various. As well as letting all (Save one; dun dun dun) that they were welcome to visit his mountain cabin for snow-brewed tea. As well as an invitation if another adventure springs forth. Flexing his powers and reliving his youth, in a way that does not end in a dragon's maw, has given Old Malik the itch again.
The itch for adventure.
Also the itch to find a better prosthetic for shenangans.
Smiling warmly at a job well done, Red Chanter looks to her companions and shakes her head in disbelief that each of them made it through this debacle intact...or as much so as they'd began.
"It's been an...enlightening experience. I must report back on what's transpired so I won't be sticking around long. But, if ever you need me, ask any bard you come across to play the "Ballad of the Grinning Fool." If they know it, they'll be able to find me. If not, find a better bard."
Her tail swishes as she winks, turns on her heel, and heads back to curl up by the hearth at The Jolly Dwarf before setting off the next day.
Harley mourns and celebrates as appropriate upon returning to the village and hearing news from the people. She thanks her companions for having her back throughout the adventure, and lets them know that if they ever need to send a message, she plans to return to Palebank Village frequently over the years. Harley spends a few days restocking supplies and enjoying the company of the folk in the area, then ventures back out to her true home, exploring the isolating wilds of the Eiselcross in the lookout for lost souls and exciting adventures. Word even reaches the village, every now and then, of travellers claiming to have heard the whistle of a remorhaz javelin cutting through the sound of the wind and snow in the wilderness.
(If anyone has anything else to talk to Tulgi about, that would happen before this.)
As Tulgi lays down and some of the group turn to leave, Red Chanter begins to play her viol softly from the corner where she's posted up after realizing she approached the inquiry from quite the wrong angle. It's a slow and soothing tune that everyone seems to remember but they're unsure from where. After a while low, droning tones and harmonies begin to join the melody she plays as she begins to pace forward ever-so-slowly toward the dwarf's bed, singing quietly:
"Oh my baern, rest thee well Papa's astandin watch tonight Fairies weave a slumber spell I'll be sleeping by your side
"Out from the mines and in to bed Papa's astandin watch tonight Stones be rumblin 'neath your head I'll be sleeping by your side
"Monsters lurking in the deep But Pa's astandin watch tonight Now be layin down to sleep And I'll be sleeping by your side
"Sun behind the mountain heights Gone till morrow, took its light So settle down, baern, and close your eyes Can you hear the moon's sweet lullaby? Time t' be saying your goodnights And I'll be sleeping by your side"
Once Red Chanter is confident Tulgi is asleep, she'll silently motion to the others to join her outside.
"If Katia and Daelnar are poking around at the curio and we've gotten all the information Tulgi's willing to part with, I think it makes the most sense to provision ourselves for our trek to the cave. There was practical gear at Urgon's house which could prove helpful if Katia doesn't object to its use. Some among us would likely benefit from a grappling hook and lantern...especially if we travel at night. Would his weapon or armor benefit anyone? Although I fear those items may be too personal for Katia's taste."
ahhh i'm so glad you liked my song enough to use it in your game X3

The crab accepts Malik's ration and drags it back into the water. Three smaller crabs approach and begin eating.
The chest is a cavity built into the floor, submerged beneath about one foot of water. The chest is locked.
(Unlocking the chests requires a Dex (thieves' tools) check or Str check. Anyone who enters the water to do so will need to make a Con save)
Harley turns to see who looks confident about entering the water and unlocking the box. If others look hesitant she will enter and try to force it open.
Con save: 16
Str check: 15
