Ignazio nods at Mihris, seemingly satisfied with the interaction, "Ah yes, we always settle this sort of thing among the present travelers before departing on a journey. As Caravan Master, I have administrative authority, of course, but a few others among us have different sorts of authority. Priestess Mithann is our higher religious authority present, and Warduke Emial is a recently arrived representative of the Lord's Alliance among us, so we also show the proper respect for his position in important matters." he nods towards a general direction behind himself again, "Mithann also seems to place some trust in you and your partners back there. She vouched for you and asked that we also take your opinion in the important matters along the caravan, and I fear they might be needed soon enough."
(Ooc) ((I'm out of threads to pull that Red would be aware of for. Other than filling in the group on details we garrnered; Red's main contribution would be that they kept the potential burgle underwraps, either to help protect or to help isolate. )
"Most kind of Priestess Mithann to regard our small group so highly. I'll make sure we are present at that meeting you mentioned. This is probably time for me to take place in the caravan and move. I wish you a good day, Master Ignazio."
Mihris lowered her head in farewell and returned to the group. "We are invited to the meeting tomorrow with all the caravan's authorities, concerning the rumors of infiltrators. But our caravan master is quite sure the suspicions are baseless."She retold everything she heard from Ignazio, including names and safety measures. "God's willing, it all will prove a false alarm. Priestess Mithan was under a lot of pressure with her mission. We should be vigilant, of course, but so far there is no reasons for panic."
(OOC: While waiting for others to return, Mia will stay in their wagon and organize the information she earned today. Also She has a business to do in the night. So she has to take a break and recover her stamina)
As soon as Mihris enters her sight, Mia gives her best friend a warm and welcoming hug. After squeezing comfortness and energy from Mihris, Mia writes down all the information she learnt today into a rough sketch of caravan on the snow. "You know what, Miri? I have seen a lot and heard a lot today. But I couldn't find any evidence supports the theory that there's an evil priest among us. And Ignazio wouldn't be much help. Because no vegetable man would admit a rotten apple in his bucket. The customers wouldn't know there is a bad one until they smell or taste it" The little Elf tosses a dried fruit in her mouth. "…Hum this one is good. But it's too late when you eat a rotten apple. So what we need now is a new member with a keen sense of smell!" Mia picks up a new fruit. This time she doesn't eat it but puts the fruit into her pocket. "I will meet one of them tonight. If my negotiation goes smoothly. I can introduce you to our new spy next morning!"
"Do be careful, Mia," Mihris was genuinely concerned, "regardless of those rumors - the place is not safe. I would prefer to accompany you, from afar, if you wish so, to be there in case something unexpected happens."She would not insist, understanding that as young as Mia was she certainly knew what she was doing, just honestly did not want the girl to wander off alone.
The caravan continues on the trail for what seem like too many long hours, for either the lack of sunlight makes it impossible to track time properly or Aurilsbreath howling against your face all along makes time stretch this way. After the beasts grow weary and a suitable wind break is found in the form of rolling hills ahead, whistles from further ahead in the caravan signal for the group to stop. Beasts are set loose near their wagons and quickly move to huddle close to each other as their masters cover them with thick blankets and various campfires are being lit around. Guards are spread around making a sort of perimeter around the camp.
The fog is much worse at night on this side of the Spine of the World, you can barely see out to 100 ft away from you, but you are able to see Mithann waving at your group, sitting alone close to a campfire several steps to the side of the line of wagons.
((If there is anything else you wanted to do before this, just say so and we'll get it sorted. Otherwise, you're free to approach Mithann or go do other things somewhere else.))
If Mihris was present (meaning, Mia went hunting alone) she, of course, answered the silent call. "I see you prefer your lone fire over the one our small group keeps. You are still welcome there." It was said with the smile to indicate a joke. "If you are curious about our inquiries today, it seems there are no reasons to be worried, not on the account of those we shared the road so far."
Vanys nudges Red and motions for the artificer to follow him over to the priestess. If Mihris has already approached, then Vanys simply nods to confirm what the tiefling says. If Mihris has gone hunting with Mia, then Vanys tells Mithann the same thing, "We haven't found a cause to worry yet. Although our investigations should not be a final measure, it would be safe to say that you are relatively protected for now." Still standing he touches a wire in the pouch at his waist and mumbles a few arcane phrases pointing to the priestess, "If there is indeed a spy among us, it would be prudent to know of their abilities. Perhaps you could offer us some insight into what a servant of the Frostmaiden might be capable of?" before she responds he adds on, "I am only communicating like this in case there are any prying ears."

((Mialee would have wandered off to do her thing right now, since the rats need the wagons to stop to be able to go outside and move about them. :) ))
Mithann laughs at the initial joke, a seemingly welcome break of pace for the tension she had been feeling, "Nonsense, friends. Please gather around." she motions for you to sit around her fire and listen to your reports, theories and tales, "I see. I am relieved that you at least feel safe. I know how I must sound, paranoid and isolated up here in this insane weather. But I know how to differentiate between a threat and harmless misunderstandings." she looks at the fire somberly for a moment.
— The priestess is initially startled by the sudden Message from Vanys, but adjusting quickly and seemingly used to this sort of communication, she responds "Oh. Well, servants of the Frostmaiden might range from common people in desperate situations all the way to those dedicated few blessed by her, who might not even feel the sting of her cold anymore." a
After taking a deep breath, she continues "I've spoken to the caravan master. Ignazio has agreed to hold a trial tomorrow, if not for the presence of eventual cultists among us at least to prevent us from bringing petty criminals into the Ten-Towns, which would tarnish the merchant's reputations it seems." she scoffs, "The authorities here will share their judgement upon our fellow travelers, casting out those found undesirable, and I've vouched for yours to be included after your investigation. Ignazio is a former magistrate from the south and will represent law, I will represent divine will, and Warduke Emial will represent the will of the Lord's Alliance. You will, collectively, represent an outsider view and cast a vote with us upon any other among the travelers. It will happen shortly after we depart, you should take the night to discuss among yourselves, collect your thoughts and decide upon whom your judgement will fall tomorrow."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Thank you Miri. It's nice to have a friend to cover your back. But, not this time. Tomorrow is our big day and I don't wanna ruin the meeting by stirring doubt. People may feel uneasy and become suspicious if they see you walking alone in the night"Mia touches Mihris's arm in an apologetic manner. Then the little Elf hugs and rubs her cheek on her friend's arm. "Worried not girl. I'm an Elf and I'm a druid. Nature is always on our side. I can hide in a dim shadow or small snowfall and nobody can see me coming. And I can see in the dark too!"
----
Mia peeks out of her wagon and grins. It's the best condition for hunting. Checking the location of each wagon and each guard, Mia slowly and silently moves to Ignazio's wagons. Rodents are tough negotiators. But druids know how to make good deals with them. It calls Animal Friendship.
I think Mia has advantage over her stealth (because of Mask of the Wild) and perception (because she checked tracks beforehand). If DM doesn't agree with my opinion. I will reroll the skill check :) And she will cast Animal Friendship when she finds healthy and nimble mice.
Mialee is able to move unseen through the camp, taking advantage of the fog and moving bank of snow after bank of snow. Even before reaching Ignazio's wagon, the elf is able to find a couple of mice roaming about the snow, seemingly trying to catch the scent of some new food after tendays of nibbling on the same spilled grains from a sack of rations they managed to tear into. As you produce a tasty small treat from your component pouch, they all approach in hopes of getting a bite, at least three of them reaching up to your hand on their hind legs and munching with gusto. One of them—the one who managed the most bites—seems particularly enthralled to you now, fully crawling up to your hand, it seems your spell was successful.
((Yes, Mask of the Wild is active all the time due to the fog (maybe not only when really close to campfires, where it disperses due to the heat). I'd also say Perception or Survival would be at advantage due to the previous investigation, though it would be a straight roll due to the disadvantage caused by dim light whenever more than 60 ft. away from the campfires. All of which won't impact your rolls. :) ))
"Discussing... what?!" Mihris did not smile anymore. "We were looking for probable spies of Frostmaiden, but now you want us to think ill about our fellow travelers without no reasons whats so ever. Why would we do it?! I would gladly represent an independent view during that rial - gods can see it is needed there! - but I am not aware of any crime committed by anyone in the caravan to discuss it now."
Red's eye twitches briefly before he catches hold of his turbulence. "Trial tomorrow... On who? You've assigned judges, asked us to go around. But it sounds as if you all respectively have someone in mind already. From my point of view-Unless the others learned something astounding; its arbitrarly choosing one or more to blame for Face." Red decidedly does not enjoy this suddent turn of events, In most point of fact 'casting out those found undesireable out' is vague, and a death sentence.
(if I'm not misunderstanding it sounds like each judge will have at least one accussee-if not just a list. and expect us to have one. And a panel of 4 judges; 3 individuals and 1 "group" )

((Oops, there was supposed to be only one "out" as in "casting out those found undesirable". xD And yes, that's exactly what she means.))
Mithann sighs and looks back at you with watery eyes, "I know... It is harsh, I urged them to investigate further, but both the Warduke and Ignazio agreed to try to purge out any sort of criminals from the group. They may have their reasons, and other clues I don't know of." she remains silent for a while before continuing, "I feel the suddenness of this both hinders and helps us. It helps us in that if we manage to cast out the cultists, my package for Bryn Shander will be secured, and I may help cease the suffering of the people there finally. It hinders in that we have little time to sort out who to cast out, but we still have the night and one hour in the morning before reaching the place."
"As I said, with no information of who and on what ground we are supposed to charge, all we can offer is our presence on that trial - to see it holding some semblance of justice. Right now we simply have nothing to discuss." Mihris looked at others. "I think I can speak here for all of us. As of your package, I still think it would be safer for you to join our wagon or at least stay close to the guards and Ignazio."
Mithann nods at Mihris and purses her lips, "Yes, it would. I made this campfire here only to have this private conversation with you, to inform you on what is happening, for no one else I will join Ignazio's retinue for the night." she stands up hugging close her leather sack, "Make no mistake, you'll see what passes for justice in these lands. There will be no defense for the accused, they will merely be chosen by the authorities." she sighs, "I only hope I may be able to make the right choice." and nods again in some sort of farewell before slowly stepping away.
Vanys hasn't said anything regarding the horrifying revelation that they would simply be casting people out of the caravan for no reason, as he felt that Mihris and Red accurately summed up his thoughts as well. Hearing the priestess' apology does little to ameliorate his feelings and as soon as she leaves, Vanys turns to the others and says, "We must find out the traitor tonight. Or else confirm that there is no traitor. We cannot risk sending an innocent person out to die in this cold." To himself, he thinks that if this is what justice is like in these lands, then he was perhaps better serving under his former masters. He shudders at the thought and quickly repels it from his mind, but the fact that this thought even came to him is frightening.
