"We have to remember the farmer's helpers are down here somewhere." Nolla points out. "Both of those plans sound like they would make it certain we are unable to save any of them..."

As you both watch down the tunnel, Sienna misses it at first, but as Thavriol points it out you both see several of the hatchlings you first encountered crawling along the roof and walls of the tunnel. Soon though, more swarm around the corners until you make out a dozen of these tiny spidery creatures making their way towards you.
"I'll follow whatever you think." Nolla says as she hears the multiple responses for retreating. "Do we run or take a fighting retreat?" She asks as she lifts her bow.
(OOC - they're at the edge of your dark vision and moving slowly towards you, so currently about 60ft.)
As you checked over the crates, you can also figure that each of you can carry one crate each without being slowed, while Thavriol being a little stronger can carry two. If you want to carry more, that it possible, but you'll be slowed somewhat by the extra weight (-10ft / turn / extra crate).
“As I said earlier, I can call forth the dark tentacles one more time, but they will assault anything within 10 feet of me, so I will need to make sure none of you are within their grasp.”
"You could move up a bit and the rest of us could fall back, giving you ten feet. Then, when the creatures are within ten feet of you, all bunched up in the tunnel, you cast your spell and then fall back to us. That should radically thin them out. The hatchlings were not as strong as the full grown creatures," Thavriol says, clearly enthused by the idea.
ooc: I'm thinking a held action, triggered by them getting within 10'. You cast the spell and then run back 20' or 30'. You'll probably take out half of them.
"Not sure if I can fight while carrying a crate though." Nolla says as she had just picked up a crate. "I think we either take the crates and run, no fighting, or we stand and fight, then take the crates. Otherwise, if we fight as we leave, we won't be able to take the crates." (Let me know if that is wrong, if we can fight while carrying crates, then disregard above.)

"You do well to remind us of that, Nolla." The paladin smiles.

Can I get a perception check from Sienna who has been keeping watch down the tunnel.
Perception: 6
Sienna Fulgurflash, Bard 3 - Child of the Stormy Sea - Alycron West Marches
Yian Do'Garon, Ranger 5 - Dragonfriend
ooc: Would Thavriol need to make a Perception check? He'd stepped a bit into that tunnel to try Divine Sense.

(OOC - true, perception check for Thavriol as well.)

"Heads up, friends. There's about a dozen of those little hatchling spider-things headed this way. Do we fight or do we retreat?"
Tandor the White, Human Life Cleric
"I would vote retreat, these tunnels put us at a dissadvantage when our foe can surround us regardless off the restriction"

“Agreed. Discretion would seem to be the better part of valor at this point.”
ooc: how far away are the hatchlings?

Sienna picks up one of the crates and will turn around and start making her way out of the tunnels making sure her companions are following

“I like Thavriol‘s plan, I am concerned about them catching up to us as we try to leave.”
