"As I said, Tarina owes me a favor. You won't have to bribe her. But you raise a fair point, Clara was it? If her information turns out lackluster, you might need to get information elsewhere. Just in case I will give each of you 5 gold pieces in advance. These are cut from your pay. "As for you, map maker Lokat Irontoe, I don't care at all what you'll be drinking and I am not sending you to that locale to get drunk. I think you misunderstand your position here. I am not asking a favor, I command you to go on this mission. I won't pay you an allowance for your merriment. Your pay is large enough that you need not beg for coppers."
"Now let's not be misunderstood, Captain." He'd clap his hands, rubbing them together. "I'm not looking to get washed over the walls or to be drinking on your silver... If we're visiting a spy, I thought we'd look... ummm.... natural, yes? What do you do at a tavern? Have a drink!" Hed give a smirk and pat the captain's back.
"As a leader, giving morale to your men is always wise, yes?" He gives a smirk. "But here I am rambling like I'm under the mountain, I'll be off with the circle and triangle of elves." He'd then chuckle and turn heel toward the tavern.
Alastar will fix his coat and look to ensure the others are ready. "Right. We're off then?"
As we head out he'll say "I like what you said, friend, about getting to know who we'll be with. A key to proper teamwork is knowing strengths and balances. I'm Alastar Bel, I'm currently studying the law and working as part of law enforcement while I finish my studies. I'm hoping to be a force for good in this city, as best I can. I'm more of a behind the scenes kind of guy though. I like a more subtle approach to things than most others in law enforcement, though. I'm pretty good with a sword and a bow, and I'm pretty durable in a fight though, if it comes to it."
Clara pockets the 5 gp and follows the group, keeping an eye out for usual thing or people following.
She joins the conversation "Well, I am Clara. It is nice to meet you all. I am a honeybee keeper, those tiny beauties seems to have adopted me and follow me since my childhood. The city is not my favourite place but I survive. I prefer much more the mountains close to the Star Mounts, where I'm from. Before this job, let's say I had some martial training, and I know how to handle a bow and a shortsword. I can speak a few different languages if needed". Turning her heads towards Lokat, the only dwarf in the group, and adds: "Nice to meet you, master Dwarf" in Dwarvish.
She looks at Briar and continues "Other than that, I am a follower of Chauntea, The Great Mother. So it seems I landed in a perfect group."
While your group is getting on the way, Lokat tries again to ask Captain Zodge to pay for his drinks. Zodge pushes Lokats hand away from his shoulder. His face stern and a flash of anger showing while Lokat tries to bond with him. "I understand perfectly well. I didn't take you out of the gutter. You pay with your own money. Now stop disrespecting me and get out of my sight, before I put your ass in jail and find a more suitable replacement for your team." Zodge tries hard to push his anger down and put on a more composed facial expression, as he is waiting for Lorkat to leave.
Lokat allows his hand to be pushed, with a smirk. "No disrespect... but I do thank you for seeing me as so qualified. Surely as one who'd want to get the job done, such as a professional captain yourself... And i know you're not a fool, but don't try making me feel bad or afraid about replacing me with someone "more suitable." Because why not have them in the first place before I?" He smirks. "I'm not much of a fool either; I'm a son of a sage." He taps his head as he turns heel and walks away with his group.
He'd turn to Clara as she'd speak to him in elvish. Such a gentle, pretty face, such golden blonde locks, pointed ears speaking Dwarvish... "Huh... Right, just Lokat is fine, dearie." He'd respond in his native tongue.
"I am Leshanna." Leshanna would say as they got far enough away from the captain that her words would not be overheard. She figured it wouldn't matter all that much, not like she had any great secrets, but knowledge was power and keeping what she could out of the captain's hands was likely only to the good. "I am a bounty hunter. I am good with my blade and bow, and able to call on magic when it is needed. My main magical interest is teleportation magic, though I am not strong enough in the art to cast many spells as of yet." As they walk she takes the badge off of her tunic and sticks it away in her belt pouch. "The Flaming Fist does not seem well-liked in this city, so not sure how good it will be seen to be wearing their symbol..." She explains as she does so.
While the others were talking, Briar was trying to figure out how to add a badge to chain mail. Giving up, she stuffs it in her pack. Briar smiles at Clara. "I am glad to hear you follow Chauntea as well." To the rest of the group she adds, "I am called Briar. My goddess has granted me a few spells, though they are mostly to heal and to aid, and I know how to use my mace if I need to."
Your destination is only 3 blocks away from the gate. After a 15 minute walk you spend acquainting yourself to each other, you arrive in front of the locale. On an old wooden sign that creeks softly in the light breeze, it reads "Elfsong Tavern". Next to the name on the sign is the silhouette profile of an elven woman's head, musical notes coming out of her open mouth. Through a pane in the door and windows to both sides of it, you can see inside a comely taproom.
Clara smiles at the view of the sign. "An elven tavern !"she says out loud, "what a joy, we might some elven drinks" With haste, she opens the door and walks in
"Well here we are..." Leshanna says as she glances towards the tavern. She nods to the others, then heads towards the door. She makes her way towards the bar, and takes a seat there, waiting for the barkeep to come to her. She has a friendly smile on her face, though her eyes are calculating as she glances around the room.
You walk into the tavern. To the left of the entrance stands an armor, that eyes you as you walk in, but quickly looses interest. The room has 8 desks for guests to sit, but only one is currently occupied. A wooden staircase leads up to the second floor. A male half-orc, a human woman and a halfling sit at the table furthest away from the entrance, next to a low burning fireplace. The orc is enjoying a meal and telling a dramatic story between bites. The bar is a walk straight over on the other side of the room. The barkeep, a middle aged half-elf, seems a bit bored and leans over the far end of the bar when you come in, listening to the orc's story. As he notices you apporaching, he gets back to the middle of the counter putting on a smile. "Welcome to my humble tavern! What can I do for you?" he asks.
"Well mostly information." Leshanna says with a smile. "We are looking for a person that we were told would be here. We don't mean her any harm, nor do we have any reason to think she means us any. We just need to get some information she has for us, then we all will go our own merry way." She pauses as she glances to those around the room. Then she turns back to the bartender. "Is Tarina available?"
"Tarina, huh. Sure. She's a long sleeper, most of her business takes place at later hours. But she should be up by now. Her bunch of regulars is already up there. Probably playing Baldurs bones as always. Should be in the dining room directly upstairs." The inkeeper points to your right to a staircase near the fireplace. "Can I enthuse you for something to drink while you are here?"

"I'll take an apple tea if you have it, with some honey and lemon, please and thank you. And a table for myself and my companions."
"One apple tea with lemon and honey, noted. Feel free to sit at any table you like. Elvish? Yes of course! That is what people expect when they see the name." He chortles briefly. "If it is not too early in the day for you I can recommend the fine elverquisst wine I imported. You lovely ladies would adore it. If you are looking for something less pricey, we have Vilhon Cider or Dancha Tea if you want to keep your head clear."
"I can always go for a pint of mead if you have it, if not an ale would be fine." Leshanna says with a nod to the barkeep. She pushes auburn hair behind her ear as she glances to the stairs indicated. She turns back in time to accept the mug the barkeep offers her, slipping coins out to pay for it. Moving to where the others have a table she sits down her mug and glances to the others. "Do we all wish to go up and meet this person, or do some of you want to wait here?" She asks the group. "Likely going to just be a quick exchange of information up there, but I would like someone down here, watching our exit, just in case."
"I'm happy to keep watch"replies Clara. Then turning back to the bartender" I'll get the Vilhon Cider please". Clara then look around to see anyone playing some games you would find in a tavern to kill time. " If I play and drink, I'll look less suspicious"she adds with a smile.
