I don't have the physical book yet; it arrives in two more days, but I have the digital version here on D&D beyond. I wanted to inform you of a typo I found:
In the Horror Character Bonds section, #9 in the d12 list is written, "I'm desperately seeking a cure to an affliction or a curse, either for someone close to me for myself."
It should be written, "I'm desperately seeking a cure to an affliction or a curse, either for someone close to me or myself."
or
"I'm desperately seeking a cure to an affliction or a curse, either for someone close to me or for myself."
I do not know if this typo is in the physical book as well since I do not have my copy of it yet.
Thank you for the report, this is accurate to the source material.
Thank you, and I understand that. If that is the case, however, this "Dark Gift" equates to... You get alter self, but can only use 1 of 6 specific forms, and when you do, you will continue to be easily recognizable long after, until you rest. Oh yeah, you can be force changed, as well. Compared to the rest of the dark gifts, this seems incredibly underpowered. If, however, there were "Effects" for each of the 6 limited forms, perhaps it could be brought up to par with the others.
Its a terrible feature, it is basicailly a glorified disguise kit
The reason they didn't add the Dark Gifts in as feats is this: They are currently working on a major overhaul of the system, which when complete, will support things like the Dark Gifts. Once that's in place, all character sheets will have access to these features.
However, if they implemented them as feats, once the new system was in place, they'd have to sunset the feats, which will have undoubtedly been added to character sheets; this would cause a clash, and many people would see their character sheets affected, in potentially unexpected ways.
Since the homebrew system is in place, that will allow you to implement the Dark Gifts as a work-around yourself, the benefits of the content team implementing the temporary work around in an "official" capacity don't outweigh the risks.
I would still highly suggest they support the features with temporary measures in the mean time. Its silly to say that its coming Soon (TM) and say that you should implement the feature yourself if you want it. If they have a workaround that they could push to paying customers, even if they have to remove it later, then do it and do not force people to integrate the produce they purchased themselves.
Perhaps an important reminder: While it is perfectly okay to recreate features like Dark Gifts as personal homebrew (which you can use and share with other players in your campaigns), the D&D Beyond Homebrew Guidelines clearly state "Do NOT submit official fifth edition D&D material to public homebrew."
Dark Gifts, Curses, and material from other sources (Piety, Supernatural Gifts, etc.) shoud not be submitted for public homebrew.
This sourcebook revises the existing background, "Haunted One" with an expanded trinket table, as well as providing a new background, "The Investigator"
I saw these are already added (awesome!) - the book also includes new background features such as "trauma survivor" and "mist wanderer." Will these be added as background features we can select, for example when creating a custom background?
Can we get an answer about these new backgrounds features? Several people have asked and been completely ignored.
How do i add Spirit Medium as my background for my College of Spirits Bard???? Book says i should be able to adjust any background to reflect this, but i haven't a clue how to do this and can't see options to adjust any background..
The themes were mistakenly said to be 8 in an earlier preorder perk announcement post, which has since been amended to reflect the intended theme count of 6, with the sincere apologies of D&D Beyond! The additional 9 backdrops are still incoming, but are undergoing a final quality pass. There is no ETA for when they'll be made available, but it will be blasted across all social channels when they are.

make a homebrew copy of the background, and replace the feature with the Spirit Medium one

Trying to get your physical content on Beyond is like going to Microsoft and saying "I have a physical Playstation disk, give me a digital Xbox version!"
Lineages Unavailable in the Character Creator with Legendary Bundle Purchase
I have the legendary bundle and can see the book as normal, however none of the linages are available in the character creator. You can look at my account and see it all - I have the master level sub, legendary tier purchase, etc... but I can not see these in character creator. I have logged out / back in / cleared cache / tried on multiple machines.
Let's say I have an unusual race that becomes one of these lineages. Like a centaur, or a Goliath. I checked to see if there was any way to apply the lineage as described in the book to a centaur character in DnDBeyond, and you cannot. May I suggest that when you choose a lineage, it also asks for a "base" race in a drop-down menu, so that it can reflect details that should carry over? (such as natural weapons, movement restrictions, carry capacity, etc)
Ancestral Legacy. Where you are replacing an existing race, we recommend that you add any features of your previous race that are being kept, by directly adding them to the character sheet.
This is incredibly disappointing. Why can't you implement features fully? Isn't that like... the entire purpose of the site?
Couldn't you have a choice, like with their ability score choice. Where you choose an original race or the skill profs. Then the original race option has a drop bar of the races with proficiencies/fly/climb/swim speeds that then add to your sheet? Crazy if I can develop a viable solution in 30 seconds and you guys just took the lazy route.
Is there a fix planned for this issue? I am unable to figure out how to add the lineage features to the character sheet directly.
Unfortunately I did not have the funds to purchase the entire source book and instead I only purchased the Lineages. I have only seen one thread asking about implementing the Ancestral Lineage feature on your character sheet, and that thread did not address if there was going to be a patch. I can not for the life of me figure out how to add features from my base race of Goblin to my Dhampir. Is there a guide or answers on another thread?

How do you actually implement your old racial features into your character sheet in DND Beyond? Say I want to turn a Goliath into a Returned, how do I “directly add” those old racial features into the character sheet?
The non-homebrew route would be to click on the necessary feature on the character sheet (skill proficiency or movement), which brings out the sidebar and the opportunity to manually override the feature, like so:
Overriding movement speeds is much the same, only with a box to enter any sort of speed:

Not strictly related to the book, but is seems a few pre-order bonuses are missing. Any news on that?
2 Themes and the 9 new backdrops seem to be missing.
Could you add the custom background features to the customer backgrounds list, it may help?
I bought the items but the Harkons bite is not accessible.
