Hey, so I see the line on here that says to use the existing homebrew tools to make the custom lineage work, but I am having two problems. One, if I am creating or editing a character with a home brew race, I cannot change that race if the addition options feature is turned on. And 2, when I try to use the additional option feature, it won’t let me use it on a homebrew race. I tried to find an option within the race creation page to allow this feature but I couldn’t find anything. Any tips?
Should offer refunds if you dont put everything thats in the book and just say homebrew it. It would be very easy to implement Custom lineage since it takes no time to homebrew. If I am paying for something I dont like it to be half assed because of arbitrary reasons.
That arbitrary reason is the finite nature of time and resources. It might not take a lot of time to do just that one thing, but it was clearly deprioritized so they could attend to so many other new features.
Keep an eye on this thread and you'll see a well-coordinated team working on rolling out what is clearly a major overhaul of their system.
As someone who's replaced major systems in my own career, trust me when I say that several of these people have probably not had a moment to breathe in the last 17 hours, unless they're strategically tagging in and out.
Yeah I can say my earlier complaint (not being able to access the optional class features) has already been corrected for me.
Sure, in an ideal world everything would work perfectly instantly, but we absolutely don't live in an ideal world, so they best we can hope for is them working as hard as they can to fix stuff, and I see no reason to assume they aren't doing that.
Agreed, my concern was addressed and corrected within an hour of my posting it in this thread! I'm sure the D&D Beyond staff are doing all they can to smooth over any issues as quickly and efficiently as possible. They definitely deserve our thanks and appreciation, as well as our patience.
in addition to "Origin Ability Score Increase" referencing +2 dex and +1 Int being replaced, also contains one which appears to be for replacing the ASIs of a standard human
text that appears:
Origin Ability Score Increase
Choose an ability score to increase by 1, instead of the previously granted strength score increase.
Choose an ability score to increase by 1, instead of the previously granted dexterity score increase.
Choose an ability score to increase by 1, instead of the previously granted constitution score increase.
Choose an ability score to increase by 1, instead of the previously granted intelligence score increase.
Choose an ability score to increase by 1, instead of the previously granted wisdom score increase.
Choose an ability score to increase by 1, instead of the previously granted charisma score increase.
If you gain more than one increase, you can’t apply those increases to the same ability score, and you can’t increase a score above 20.
Will we ever see a sidekick character builder or anything to the same effect? i personally would love it, but understand it may not be overall be worth it.
I have a Level 9 Ranger who I switched over to the optional features... the Canny benefit was granted, however the level 6 Roving does not seem to be there... It does not show up as either a Feature Benefit or even in the the values for movement speed. All my movement speeds are unchanged.

I'm not sure if you glazed over this like everyone else but I am not stating that they have not got around to it or its not done, it is simply not in the works at all from this statement in the original post: "The Custom Lineage option shown in the sidebar of the chapter can be supported using the existing homebrew race creation tools, which allow you to create any race you like!"
This is why I am perturbed after purchasing Tasha's mainly for this feature to be implemented so I dont have to explain to a DM why all my races are homebrewed and also so I dont have to make my own content when I just paid for someone to implement said content. There is no disclaimer on the Tasha page that tells me "Oh sorry you are gonna have to homebrew the stuff we dont get to, but thanks for the money!" or I would'nt have bothered. I am not out for blood or anything I would just like more transparency when I am giving somebody money for a service.

I agree. We could just homebrew the subclasses in as well if we wanted and save our money but we buy the books on here for a reason. Plus a large majority of what's in the book was basically released a year ago.
The Martial Adept feat doesn't allow you to add any of the new maneuvers to your character even through its explicitly stated in the book that the new maneuvers are available to character with that feat. Also the Ranger Swarmkeeper spells don't show up on the character sheet.
On the sorcerer page on DnD Beyond, the tab for optional class features says "1st-level bard feature" i'm sure that is supposed to say 1st-level sorcerer feature
The Snippet for the optional Ranger class feature "Favored Foe" that displays the scaled damage die (1d4 at level 1) is showing that there is no scale number available.

The first-level optional feature for the Sorcerer at https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/sorcerer#OptionalClassFeatures seems very confused about what class the spells are for:
Same issue here
Is it intentional for the new Magical Inspiration Bard Feature to not appear on the character sheet?
The extra damage from the Duelist or Thrown Weapon Fighting Styles does not appear to be getting added to the Soulknife's Psychic Blades.
Probable cause is because the blades are put in as a custom attack and doesn't count as a weapon.
Overriding the damage bonus is a viable workaround.
