Wow. I love the idea of Heir of Siberys as a Sorcerer sub-class.
Thanks. Oddly enough I got the idea from the storm sorcerer. I thought, this would make a cool Lyrander character... then I thought about the old heir of syberis prestige class, and built from there.
I went through a lot of different incarnations to get the right feel, but also be balanced. I'm interested in thoughts on how I did on that account.

I was kind of iffy about it when I first saw that it was a sorcerer subclass, but it's freaking awesome. There really isn't prestige classes anymore, they are all apart of another class so it really does fit. I really love the Warlock patron too. That is such a great idea! You're very good at designing this stuff. Much respect.
There is a nice balance to these options. I really like what you did for the elves and halflings too. Great job all around. Do you have any other race builds? Like maybe half-orcs from the Shadow Marches? lol :)

I'm trying to make time to look more into Eberron, since I'm discovering I was doing certain things kinda wrong-ish! (This is what happens when you ask graduate students working full-time to DM!) I have some campaign ideas, but I wonder if they are kind of silly. They would all be open world that could lead to bigger plots, thoughts like:
Party is a mercenary company that is struggling to find jobs in a market where House Deneith (and Tharashk, possibly) dominate the field. They end up going on missions so (dangerous? risky? horrible? with clients that don't have a good history of paying up?) just to keep their heads above water. Could be some good random quests leading up to a bigger mission overall.
Party is basically a suicide squad. PCs are criminals confined to Dreadhold, but are recruited by The Twelve to go on dangerous missions or do dirty work (such as roughing up competition). Eventually, a plot with House Tarkanan unfolds.
These are just vague ideas in my brain... not sure if they sound fun or not though.
Another Tomb of Annihilation to Eberron conversion... With the first session scheduled for this weekend, I turned my attention to the starting point.
I've made Syndra Silvane a professor at Morgrave (which fits as my entire group has some connection to the university). Instead of the Harpers, her clue about the Soulmonger comes form the sphynx Flamewind. I'm on the fence about teleporting them to Port N, I may send them via airship.
As for Port Nyanaru itself, I've kept the merchant princes more or less intact, but weaved in the dragonmarked houses. I figure the halfling houses would be most entrenched given the proximity of Q'barra to the Talenta Plains, but others have only arrived in the aftermath from the city's liberation from the Lhazaar pirates. I also changed up the churches in the city.
Area 7 Temple of Savras is now a temple of the Blood of Vol
Area 8 Temple of Gond has become a House Lyrandar Enclave. The house quietly backed the efforts to oust the pirates, and established their presence in the city almost immediately after the pirates left. They have a good working relationship with the merchant princes, managing imports and exports. The enclave is currenlty hosting several members of House Vadalis, who have high hopes for operating in the region (with its exotic fauna). Alas, Ifan Talro’a has shut Vadalis down at every turn. Their most recent tactic has been to bring him into the house through marriage; they have sent several pretty young scions of the house to temp him.
Area 9 Temple of Sune is now a House Jorasco Enclave. While Jorasco has grudgingly agreed that Wakanga O’tamu controls the potion market in the city, they dominate medical care (though many locals prefer traditional remedies and seek out witch doctors).
Area 21 Hall of Gold is now temple of the Sovereign Host.
Area 22 Public Bathhouse is overseen by House Ghallanda, who has operated it since the pirates ruled the city. Ghallanda has also been enticing local inns and taverns to join their guilds.
Area 24 Temple of Tymora is now a temple of the Silver Flame. These missionaries are late to the game since they were forbidden when the city was ruled b y pirates.
Other Houses: House Deneith is interested in the area, and sent envoys to Jobal to discuss a partnership, but the merchant prince has banned them from the city when they refused to name him to the house's leadership council. Rumors of their presence in the area (Fort Belurian) infuriates him. Thus far the city has not drawn much interest from the other houses who focus their local efforts on New Galifar.
There is a nice balance to these options. I really like what you did for the elves and halflings too. Great job all around. Do you have any other race builds? Like maybe half-orcs from the Shadow Marches? lol :)
Those two were the only races I felt needed new subraces. I figured a Xen'drik drow or Marcher half-orc could be handled pretty easily on the fly (swapping boomerang instead of hand crossbow for the drow, perhaps survival instead of intimidation for the half-orc). The only other major idea I had racially was that genasi, where actually members of other races with an elemental graft (from magic of Eberron).
Great link! I always forget that I have his website saved to my phone and to check it periodically...lol thanks for the link!
Great little blog post too!

I couldn't keep up with all the discussion so far, but since @Osgood is doing a very good job adapting Tomb of Annihilation to Eberron and I guess everyone is interested, I'd like to make a shameless propaganda of my own take on ToA in Eberron: here.

There's nothing wrong with a little shameless plug every now and then lol Also, it helps to share these ideas because of other DM's ability to build off of each other's ideas. That's a really great thread! Thanks for sharing! :)

I got you, brother! I meant to post it when it went live but also forgot lol :P Is Wayne okay? You should do a Speaking Stone to let everyone know he's alright, if he is... poor guy. :/ Send him D&D Beyond's thoughts and prayers! :)

Yes, he informed us that no one was hurt. Thank you for asking! Scott had some family matters he was tending to, but he is also well.

That's good! I'm glad they're alright. :)
My gf had a car accident last night and our car was totaled. Was super scary, she just has some bumps and bruises, though. Car accidents are so scary, I'm always happy when people can walk away from them! When will the future be here and we can have self-driving cars in mass use?

Hey y'all... so, update: I've finally started running Eberron in 5th ed and it is going AWESOME! I think the thing I am most proud of is one of my players made a Warforged Forge Cleric named Blank. I really was impressed with this build! Oh, and the group's persistence in getting to the Tower of the Twelve to train. That was pretty sweet too! I also created a Twitter account called Eberron For5thed...
There is the link. I made it today, so hopefully, I will be able to get some followers and we can light a real fire under Wizards butt...lol or maybe some real information about if there is an Adventure or setting coming our way! So, if you have a Twitter, follow and like the account and let's swap Eberron stories! :)

man I hated Eberron! I was a huge DnD fan. . I have played since basic version (red box). . through AD&D 1st including oriental. Then 2nd. . Darksun (still my favourite setting). Didn't like 3rd much but tried a few times (buying 3.0 only to have it replaced left a bad taste of course) I skipped 4th and am now loving 5th.
The reason I hated. . HATED Eberron is that I was waiting for a good online D&D game. I thought. . Wow. . dragonlance? Forgotten Realms? couldn't wait! Then . . . Eberron? Warforged? I still played and it was fun. Since I stopped playing that game I never gave it a second thought until I found this thread. Now I want to pick up some source materials thinking that I was just being stubborn and resentful and passed it off too quickly.
Thanks thread!

Just a heads up, we ran into some conflicts with scheduling, and we're trying for next week to record. Hopefully that'll mean two episodes in October.
