So, every year I run a D&D one shot for my birthday. I've run old school dungeon crawls, funhouse dungeons, and horror themed one shots in the past, but this year I wanted to do something different. Something a little light hearted. So I decided to finally run an Aquisitions Incorporated themed one shot.
This was the probably one of the best one shots I have ever run! We all had each other in tears laughing one minute, then tense in battle the next.
I don't think the rest of my group have seen or followed the Aq Inc or C Team games, but the way I introduced them to the concept they just bought right in and ran with it. It was amazing. I haven't had that much fun running a game since our Ravenloft campaign. And the best part of it is that now the group wants to continue this as a full campaign!
Imagine starting a campaign with pre generated level one joke characters who have terrible pun names... two of the characters literally being two Kobolds in a trench coat because I thought it was funny (and one of those Kobolds being bossy in character and making themselves the Face of the group as well as Decisionist). Every player just committed to the bit.
And an added bonus for me, they left a couple of big things open for me to bring back up and hit them with in the future...
TLDR: Best Birthday ever.
