I’m just starting out and very new to this. Need some folks who will bear with me to fully learn how this works. Still trying to figure out if this just a place to meet to play irl or if it’s an online thing. Thanks for any advice yall may can offer or tips yall can spare.
Adventurer's League (AL) is a D&D framework for folks to create and play characters in adventures hosted on-line, in local shops, at people's homes or anywhere else including conventions or different cities or countries. Basically, someone offers to run an AL legal adventure, players sign up and bring an AL legal character of a level appropriate for the tier of the adventure. This character typically starts at level 1 or level 5 but increasing character level in AL is very quick if you want it to be. The players play the game, log a record of the game - date, adventure name, DM, rewards earned - on the character sheet. They can then use the character in another game run either by the same people or at a completely different venue as long as they are running an Adventurers League adventure.
AL tends to be run at local game stores as well as online by a number of different organizations. There are several Discord servers dedicated to running D&D and particularly Adventurer's League since it fits with a modern busy lifestyle where folks of lots of commitments.
If you are looking for a game then I'd suggest looking for local organizations running D&D, local game stores and online providers and see what is available.
http://adventurersleague.info/ is currently the best place to keep updated. The Adventurers League Players Guide is the document to read for everyone, but this site has you guided all the say!
