Hey guys. Does anyone know of a D&D5E creature with a statblock that either is, or could be modded to be a Superman-style opponent? I.e., humanoid, flight, high strength and defences, etc.?
For reasons I won't go in to here, my players will be getting into a fight with an enemy that has a superhero theme, and I need an enemy for it. I could probably do Batman or Captain America more easily, but I feel like Superman would be more iconic. (Also I don't like Superman so it would be easier to make him a villain...)
It would take some customization, but a celestial stat block (Deva, Planetar, Solar, Empyrean) might be a good starting point...you could swap the weapon attacks for unarmed strikes and borrow the beholders disintegration ray or the scorching Ray spell at will, depending on how strong you want to make him, and give him truesight to mimic his X-ray vision
Apparently DNDBeyond is undergoing maintainence, so I can't click the link, but I'd probably start with a Brass Dragon and tweak that. You get flight, durability, strength, natural attacks (punches), and a 60ft line of fire that acts like eye beams. Just rewrite it to be a medium humanoid and you've got a solid threat. The draconic Frightful Presence seems entirely appropriate as well.

I know that this is 3 years old at this point but I built one if you'd like to look at it.
