One of my players is looking for an amphibious race and he dislikes Tritons, do any of you know a home brew amphibious race on d&d beyond? Also who thinks another water based playable race should be officially added to 5e?
If you don't like tritons, there's still sea elves from MToF, tortles from The Tortle Package, some merfolk from Plane Shift: Zendikar, some other merfolk from Plane Shift: Ixalan, and VillainTheory's brineshell dragonborn. If that's not enough, I've been meaning to do otterfolk and firenewt races for a while now.

All of these have a swim speed - they can exist underwater for different lengths of time. The first list is ones that can breath underwater, the second ones that can hold their breath.
Ones that can breathe air and water:
- Sea Elf
- Triton
- Water Genasi
- Locathah - from Locathah Rising - these are amphibians that need to be immersed in water every 4 hours since they are primarily aquatic

No forgetting the Tortle!

give us official playable bullywugs or i riotMedium humanoid (human), lawful neutral
Also Vedalken are semi-aquatic
D&D 5e is quite lacking in water-based enemies and PC options.
Koalinths are supposed to be aquatic Goblins, so you can use the Goblin PC template and add water-breathing.
Also, Sea Elves?? That's the devs scraping the bottom of the barrel for ideas.
