So I’m starting a new campaign set in a nature vs technology setting. Part of it is like a semi-steampunk modern setting and the other part is natural and reminiscent of the Edo period in Japan. The final boss is this evil sentient hatred storm, created by the divide between the two big factions. The six players will each have a ‘power ranger’ spell gimmick based on the six core stats.
Are there any references I can use to make better/more fleshed out material?
First thing that comes to mind is Legend of the Five Rings (called L5r for short). It’s not D&D, it’s a completely different system. I’m not sure how easy it would be to extract the setting fluff from the mechanics, but there’s a lot for it. It might work for you.
That campaign sounds really cool, but before I say much, I need to know more about the "six ability score spells." If it's preexisting spells you want to use, I'd recommend a smite spell for strength, and some teleport spell for dexterity. If you mean some HB spell like abilities, it's basically up to you.

I'm just your everyday dungeon master. Ignore that jar full of souls. And those bones in the corner are just props, don't worry. I'm definitely NOT a lich. Definitely.
Yes, I like beholders. Yes, I curated an exquisite personality for commoner #2864. Yes, my catchphrase is "are you sure?"
"...or you can find the secret tunnel that leads to the Vault of Dickish DM which is filled with 10,000,000 copper coins and a 5,000 pound solid gold statue of a middle finger that is too big to fit through the door."
Given the Quasi Stempunk intended aesthetic that might be a good fit as the author seemed to run his campaign on similar lines. There might be some issues converting from 5e to 5.5 in areas like using the homebrew Oiran/Geisha class if you want to use the D&D Beyond character generator.
The comic Usagi Yojimbo is a great read and is full of historically accurate little details about ancient Japan. It's been going for like 40 years and is often available at your local library.
