Using encounter building in the 2024 rules still requires a decent amount of math. This instead gives you the CR required (I am only bothering with High difficulty encounters) at various monster:PC ratios. All these values are merely calculated and rounded down, but it's not like encounter building is an exact science to start with. Note that you can easily mix and match: if you want a boss worth two PCs, and eight minions worth another two PCs, just use a 1:2 monster and eight 4:1 monsters.
