I want to use published material to run a campaign for my group and was thinking that using some AL materials for this, but there doesn't seem to be an easy way of finding something suitable on the DMs guild, can someone offer some suggestions please? I'd like to run them from level 1 - 15+ ideally.
Apologies if this is already answered somewhere, but got a good few pages into the forum and failed to find something similiar.
AL modules are often associated with a season which had a story line that was related to the hardcover adventure published around the same time. For example, the DDAL-04-XX series of AL modules are for season 4 and are related to Barovia and the Curse of Strahd hardcover though the stories don't interact with the hardcover events. If you were running CoS then these adventures could be useful supplements if you wanted more content.
However, all AL modules are designed so they can be played as stand alone adventures which will typically take 2 to 8 hours to play though most are designed for about 4 hours. There are some AL modules that have an ongoing theme or small story arc though these are usually mostly just a trilogy and they are only loosely connected since they can be played stand alone.
Modules that were created for conventions were called "CCC" for convention created content. Some of the larger conventions had there own setting within the Forgotten Realms like the Border Kingdoms which has its own history/lore and collection of modules.
More recently (still several years ago), the CCC program was phased out and the DungeonCraft or DC system was implemented. The DC system allows anyone to create modules that are legal for AL play. However, these are constrained by the DC documents in terms of what magic items and treasure they can award. I think the DC system started with Rime of the Frost Maiden (though it could be later). There are also a lot of DC adventures that came out with Wild Beyond the Witchlight which are set in the feywild or similar planes. The current "season" is Spelljammer and there are quite a few DC adventures available for that too.
If you want to string AL modules together into a campaign, it is certainly doable. However, I think there are likely more than a thousand available these days so you'd need to decide what theme you want to use for your campaign and find appropriate modules. This is made easier if you base the campaign on one of the existing hardcovers like Tomb of Annihilation. ToA can be supplemented with Guild Adept publications, as well as AL modules. In addition, there are AL modules that are set after the hardcover finishes with some content available for tier 4.
Without deciding on a theme, it is harder to find modules that fit the campaign you want to build.
In my home campaign, I purchased Ghosts of Saltmarsh and Tales from the Yawning Portal and then combined them into one campaign based mostly in Saltmarsh. I've added a couple of other adventures from Candlekeep Mysteries and will likely add something from other sources including AL modules. I'm not running that campaign strictly AL though I could easily have done so if anyone was interested in playing the characters outside of the campaign.
I'm not sure if I was able to answer your question though. If you pick a theme that corresponds to one of the hardcovers then you could look at AL modules associated with that season.
