Session 0 had 12 people and six of those are new to AL. Some normal hiccups with people not fully understanding the concept or the handout.
Session 1 had 10 people. 1 brand new who only had 3 gaming sessions of D&D under a bad dm. 1. I tossed the TPK hallway and made it a serious of skill checks. 2. I added money for just surviving. 3. I give everyone automatic long rest between chapters. The old group was helping out the new people but with 10 people combat was dragging. I discussed with another player about splitting the table. And started to review the material.
Session 2 had 12 people show up and we had fun but the cake combat was hour plus long. I bumped the combat up to 6 bakers. I also announce the table will be split with the new dm taking the family and 2 of the regulars. He also mentioned no cash was dropped in any encounters, so I gave everyone 350 GP for finishing the chapter.
Chapter 3 the casino has magic items as winnings. I would not allow these to duplicate at the end of the session. I also gave my pcs some bonus poker chips to encourage play. You may want to also.
I was talking with my co dm, and other players and they have correctly call the book a railroad. Or the 1e rule of here is the adventure. So we came up with the idea they are time looping as well as glitching. I started chapter 4 with a knowledge check and highest roll got the Gith Y and Gith Z data dump. Plus a warning the Tieflings were hostile. Then I made the Tiefling hostile due to one of pcs standing up the bride at the altar.
To continue with the time looping, I going have one pc be the main character of each chapter. This will give that pc advantage in certain situations. I did kill 3 pcs last session and had them restart chapter 4 at a campground. And then started the chapter over. but they did remember their deaths.
Chapter 5 is kind of lame. Watch the 12 task of Astrix for ideas. The boss battle can be iffy due to the terrain. This is one battle where a map is needed.
Chapter 6 is slightly better but I would suggest you get on net and see other peoples rewrites to the story. Having a pc be a Main Character of the chapter is working. We choose who going to be at the end of session. Since they have access to my Beyond account I tell them to read the write up on the plane and give me a short backstory or something I can hook their PC to the chapter. I also give that person advantage during the boss battle since they have already time looped the chapter.
Chapter 7 was interesting because the players assume the dragon they saw in the distance was one they already met, so I ran with that. And one of the players wanted me to kill their pc so they could glitch to another build. He is now running a Canadian postman in 1980s San Franciso.
Chapter 8 was save by the pc who was the main character. I through her father the Cat Lord as the replacement for Razak. Parts of this adventure don't make sense if you have ranger or Razak with the party. Hey we see the murder by the Vile Hunt. After giving the elephant the band news, there no reason to try to track the Vile Hunt down. Drop the Vile Hunt combat on page 49 and have them just find the corpse. I did have fun last night by using Peeps as the monster tokens. You killed it you ate it.
Chapter 9 Glorium turned into a western. With pc wanting the villain to have family heirlooms and me wanting to glitch Ro4M as a villain. The players ran with this and I now have Bad Ro4M is a black hat. And One eye is duodrone LT. See the front cover of the ALT cover of the adventure.
Chapter 10 turn into a Thundercats show. I got with one of the players and reskinned the monsters to fit the show.
Chapter 11 I had to problems. It reads as a possible skill check only session. And my two tables collapsed into 10 pcs at one time. But we rewrote to be a Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo Crossover episode.
Reviewing Chapter 13 we are planning of skipping it and fitting in an approximate level module.

One gamer did point out that acolytes background generally get a discount on spellcasting services. So the curse was not an issue.
