I DM an AL group that just finished Storm King's Thunder. They managed to kill Iymrith in about two and a half rounds, and it wasn't because of any super-overpowered stuff that I decided to give them.*(it was because of my idiocy, see footnote) They were level 12, having killed all of the giant lords, and had the Iron Flask containing Megaera the Dawn Titan. They also had the Claw of the Wyrm Rune that the storm giants gave them after rescuing King Hekaton. They released Megaera, then used the claw to give Iymrith vulnerability to all damage. On Megaera's turn, Iymrith took 10d6 from being within 30 feet of Megaera, then Megaera moved to the same spaces as Iymrith, dealing another 10d6, followed by hitting with 2 of her 3 slam attacks, (each doing 3d6+5 bludgeoning & 10d6 fire), doing a total of 46d6+10 damage, doubled from the vulnerability, for a total of 300+ damage, out of Iymrith's 481 hp. Were I to do this again (or if anyone else has a party with the Iron Flask containing Megaera) I would seriously consider using the property of the Iron Flask's obedience to allow the creature to ignore any orders that may result in the creature's death (both Megaera and Iymrith are CR23, so it is a plausible argument in my opinion). Megaera is CN, so there wouldn't be a real alignment based reason for her to be hostile to Iymrith. The text of the Iron Flask says if the command given is "a command that is likely to result in its death" it will simply defend itself and take no further actions; would that apply here (poll below)?
EDIT: Thank you Alfrebaut for pointing out my idiocy, I forgot that the property of the claw requires a saving throw, and as such it wouldn't have worked vs Iymrith. My players didn't mention it, probably hoping I wouldn't remember the properties of the thing they had been given five minutes prior, and I didn't.
Imryth has a +15 to CON saves, she cannot possibly fail to save against the Claw of the Wyrm Rune. It seems like there must have been some shenaniganery to get it to the point you are describing, but if they were level 12 and had the giant potions, it seems like it would be a moot point anyway.
Maegera the Dawn Titan has incredible single-melee-target damage and resistance to nonmagical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage. Iymrith uses Multiattack and dies.
