Hey so I got a question about Characters Retirement for season 9. I have a level 14 Dragonborn (Level 10 Conquest Paladin/Level 4 Fiend Warlock) and I have a want for him to become level 20 so that I can experience what it means to be at Tier 4. A thing I heard about is Character Retirement. I have looked all over the WofC Adventure Leauge PDF's and I couldnt find anything about character retirements. Like what happens when I do retire said character? Do I get anything special? Can I use the same Character Combination again? Some help and being pointed to the right source is greatly appreciated!
I've been playing AL for a few years now and the only "character retirement" I have heard of is when characters become illegal for AL play and can't be used for AL games any longer. (some examples would be a character who becomes a vampire or lycanthrope and doesn't obtain a cure or a character with one of the banned sentient/ultra powerful magic items that are present in some AL adventures). Other than that characters never retire. You can play them until level 20 and keep playing them at level 20 in tier 4 adventures. You still receive gold/downtime etc but level ups don't advance your level beyond 20. You also do not receive epic boons unless the specific adventure includes such a reward.
You don't receive anything if you stop playing a character and since you are always welcome to create any level 1 character you like you can make the same character over and over as long as they have different names.
upon retirement your character is promised a pension by his faction...but shortly thereafter realizes its all a lie. He then is compelled to find a job washing dishes at the local inn.
