Hello! It would be fun to hear what you guys had most fun playing in each tier.
For myself I enjoyed necromancer at tier 2 (skeleton madness while they still are good), and sorlock at tier 3. With a potential knockback from eldritch blast of 60 feet in on round it is a recipy for comedy. Look for cliffs, lava pits etc.
I noticed no one had replied to this and I think the reason is that the answer is completely subjective.
The most fun character in each tier is the one that you enjoy playing most. :)
I find that 5e is reasonably well designed so that almost every character can be fun to play at least in all the tiers I have played in (my highest level character just reached level 17 so I haven't actually played tier 4 yet).
In many cases, the level of "fun" may depend on the content. I have a 1 knowledge cleric/8 evoker wizard character that is fun to play. However, I just played in a module that sent the characters to one of the abyssal planes. Almost everything there is resistant to magic and either immune or resistant to fire damage. This significantly reduced the effectiveness of the character and he reverted to mostly enhancing the team rather than attacking opponents since fireball and some of his other standard spells weren't very effective. In general, the character is a lot of fun to play, in this particular module it was more challenging.
