"our short-term plans include creating Adventurers League character validation, which will allow you to easily create AL-legal characters without memorizing the specific rules."
Where is that? This was from 2019. Has the short term not come to pass yet? Or can I not see where you do this?
Alternatively, how do you create DnD Adventurers League legal characters? (In a fast way. - I came here hoping I could even press the Random button and get AL legal characters for my group...)
Yeah, I found that for the current season (rime of the frostmaiden) this is the guide to follow: https://media.wizards.com/2020/dnd/downloads/AL_PGv_10_2.pdf So I just have to be careful to not pick anything through DDB that doesn't follow the guide...
As a programmer (who knows nothing about DDB :)) I can say that it should not take more than 1-2 months for a junior web dev to get this implemented, integrated, and tested - as a matter of fact the hard part is making some kind of custom account for WotC or AL to punch in what the constraints are for the current season - depending on how fancy this is on a scale of JSONs to node based flowchart tools. But otherwise it's just about making some database connections and a couple of UI features to generate AL stuff.

There is actually a slightly updated ALPGv10.3. Sources can be found here:
Not presently, you have to manually be careful with your selections when building your character.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
It's been planned for some time but with seasonal rule changes, admin rulings documented on Facebook, 3 campaigns with different rule sets and those rules split between a ALPG, ALDMG and ALFAQ for each ruleset, it's a challenging prospect to implement.

True. A togglable PHB+1 and log sheet is all that is really needed on DDB though and that has stayed consistent since the beginning of 5e AL.
It'd be which +1, but also which season & campaign, and for S10 they already made two changes to the race choices and that race isn't part of +1 so probably been put off due to ever-changing nature of AL rules?

But it still comes down to just needing to be able to toggle sources regardless of season or campaign. There is no reason to put it off, the specifics of the tools use has changed, but the needed function of the tool has not.
Plus log sheet. This changes a bit by season, but as long as it has a field for module, DM, level, Items, and notes for each session it will function in all of them.

I've been searching for 20 minutes and can't figure out how. (aside from doing it as if I was doing it on paper on my own)
According to this D&D Beyod article: https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/463-how-to-make-a-d-d-adventurers-league-character-on :

As far as I know, built in support for creating AL legal characters is still not a part of DDB.
I play AL using DDB. You have to check sourcebook of spells/feats/etc, but not impossible.
Nothing automated yet, but planned (hopefully soon, they mention it in upcoming features every once in a while over the last year).
I would think the big issue is sticking to the phb+1 rule. When selecting spells, feats, etc filter the selections to the PHB and your one other book.

Would gladly pay for this as a "DLC" feature.
