Hey gang, I created a cut scene that flips my players' world upside down. Who they fought for, was actually the bad guy, who they planned a surprise attack against anticipated their moves by creating a "weapon" and blah blah blah.
I am looking for suggestions/ideas for what this mysterious "weapon" could be specifically for a naval battle. Preferably something that would be on the unique side and not "oh its just another death star" trope type thing. My players can handle a lot. In preparation for this epic naval battle they have ensnared a giant sea monster awaiting release inside a pocket dimension totem (pokeball basically), so they are prepared for something BIG.
If it helps, I'm including bullet points as definitions of some names / people to help with context, and the cut scene at the bottom of this post:
Onvyris the leader of the elves, in control of their entire race.
Slagis in charge of the entire race of Orcs
Fargrunis in charge of Dwarves
The Dwarves have been at war with the Orcs for the last hundred years or so, lots of death.
Fargrun, Slag, and Onvyr are robot A.I who have been on this planet for longer than a millennia directing the path of civilization down a very negative road for their pleasure and enjoyment.
The United fire(s) is a resistance group that stands against the tyrannical governments in the land of Apia (the continent) that the party has joined up with in hopes of getting a fresh start for civilization.
The united fire has been preparing for a naval surprise attack on the Dwarves for months, and are sending their fleet to the Tequa Islands to prepare battle strategy against the dwarves recently reduced naval fleet.
The Dwarven King Fargrun is meeting with Slag, the emperor of the Orcs. The two are sitting on elegant thrones by an open hearth, crackling softly and giving off warmth. Servants await nervously to the whims of either king. Slag, a hulking mass of muscle, sits in his throne that appears just a bit too large for the room, and yet, he appears a little too big for it. "The weapon is ahead of schedule, and will be ready for the battle near Tequa islands. You were correct to assume Onvyr's new play toy (the united fire) would go after our fleet. Good work on hiding a portion of our elite vessels off the coast of Avalon (a different island mass) last year. You always seem to keep a few steps ahead of Onvyr," Slag says as he punctuates his statement by distastefully chugging a rather large mug of ale. The dwarven king appears pleased, and remarks, "Onvyr has upped his game this century, I never would have thought he would spend the effort making a rebel force out of the humans. He's finally managing what some might mistake as subtlety. One would assume that for arriving first to this sandbox word Onvyr would be better at the art. Wasn't subtle enough though was he! It's our move Slag and this weapon will catch Onvyr and his puny United Fire group off guard!"
An orb or similar object that creates a massive whirlpool in the ocean, dragging everything in a very large area down into the briny depths. Alternatively it drags them into the Elemental Plane of Water.

You fear it more than the strike of a viper, the ravages of disease, the ire of a lover. The answer is always death. But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."

Thanks guys. I appreciate the time and thought.

A fantastic idea, thanks!
It's worth noting that their sea monster would most likely be useless against a massive whirlpool.

Tooltips (Help/aid)
“My Lord Slag”
”yes, what is it, loyal minion?”
”we have constructed this small device. It draws power from some elemental or demonic plane.”
”what does it do?”
*points device at Slag’s face*
*feigns amusement* “oh look, my face feels slightly warmer. What ever will have i done without this during winter? Get out of my sight!”
”ah, but watch what it does to this pitcher of water.” *points it at jug. Jug of water immediately boils and steams*
”and watch what happens to this bowl of water with this wooden toy boat borrowed from my son’s play things” *water boils, boat sinks with mast aflame*
”can you make it ... bigger?”
“We are working on it, my liege.”
”excellent.”
