I have to be careful to say as DM ... "The large room is well furnished. You see the Baron, the Captain of the Guard, Rafael, Grendol and some other people here."
Or as a non-player character I might say ... "He says, 'The Baron, the Captain of the Guard and some other people' were there at the meeting."
I have to be careful to begin some statements with "This is what he TOLD you." or something similar so that it is not DM voice telling them something.

Cum catapultae proscriptae erunt tum soli proscript catapultas habebunt
I make a clear distinction to the players between the DM telling the character what they know and see vs the DM roleplaying an NPC. In the first case, the DM tells the characters exactly what they are aware of and what they know, it is always truthful from the character perspective (it reflects the character perceived reality). On the other hand, when speaking as an NPC, the information is as reliable as the NPC which may be not at all.
