I am a first time DM who just posted a PbP thread. I want it to be a more roleplay focused mystery adventure with a Lovecraftian Twist. Any tips or advice?
P.S; I especially need advice to make good NPC's and Villians

Hi. I'm a 14 year old student looking to play D&D. If you don't have a problem with me, I would gladly join your session!
If you have the DMG there's rules for insanity and the like.
One way would be to use super high CR monsters with the cthulhu vibe (eg mind flayers, aboleths, deep ones) over the party's level so they can't just rock up and kill it. Give the monster cultists and minions.
By disrupting the cults or finding a relic it can weaken the big monster to a more killable version.
I'd also look at Curse of Stradh for the 'creepy' factor which it sounds like you'll need to build. CoS is also relatively low magic-items which makes it difficult too.
