I am planning to add a pet shop for the party to explore, as one of the characters has requested this. They will be level 6 when I schedule this. What kinds of pets would be standard to find in a semi-mundane pet shop, and what would be reasonable pricing?
Depends on your setting. In my current campaign, a wealthy NPC has a chimeric cat, a giant dragonfly, and a constrictor snake as pets in his menagerie. I've given a stirge, a one-winged pegasus, and a flying snake as pets in my underdark campaign, and an NPC had a pet blink dog. My home game has a team of musk ox and a dire rat. (We wanted to adopt a haunted drill press but the DM denied us. Don't ask.)
Prices? That really depends on the economy of your game. Are semi-mundane pets rare in your setting? How wealthy is the party? How many pets are you prepared to allow them to have? Maybe base the price off how much access you want the players to have, and how much they can afford right now.
In the pet shop include an area for rabbits, dozens of them. Make them adorable. Make them fuzzy pastel hues. Have it something that the players will connect with.
When they ask about the bunnies, have the shopkeeper look at them oddly and answer the party's questions. Perhaps another customer comes in and purchases 3 or 4 of the bunnies.
Before the encounter is over be sure to have the shop keep grab a bunny and throw it to one of the pets for sale. The pet and perhaps several others try to catch the tossed bunny out of the air. Whichever Pet wins, devours the cute fluffy bunny almost at once.
Watch players faces drop.
Bonus points if the PC buys a "feed bunny" as a pet.

Thanks in advance!
There's quite the selection of products on the DMs Guild website. You might find something there to your liking.
At present, from various campaigns, my players have a pseudo dragon, a giant badger, and a pig as pets.

Maybe a pet horse or a wolf?
I homebrewed various creatures, but I also had a flying snake, a raven, and dire wolf.
