Was it intentional to make it no longer work against Cloudkill, which does not cause the Poisoned condition (it just does Poison damage)? If so, why? It's already a pretty marginal item for something that requires attunement.
I have no reason to believe the revision isn't intentional as they changed it significantly. So if a given spell or effect doesn't impose the Poisoned condition, the Necklace of Adaptation has no effect on its saving throw if any.
The Necklace of Adaptation now can help not just strictly against inhaled poison, but contact, ingested or injury poison as well, provided they impose the Poisoned condition, such as DMG sample poison Assassin's Blood, Malice, Torpor, Carrion Crawler Mucus etc

But not the poison of a spider or flying snake, sadly.

I guess that makes it more useful, on balance, if significantly less sensible, for something that was originally about breathing, but now is apparently about breathing and not being Poisoned, but not about protecting from Poison damage.

It's not new, the Necklace of Adaptation never helped against such monster's poison damage.
