Is it possible to disable the 2024 SRD in a campaign? I want to start a new campaign, but only want my players to have access to the 2014 content? is that possible?
Sadly, not really in D&D Beyond. Even if no-one in the campaign has 2024 content, the Free Rules will still be accessible.
At the moment I simply tell my players to always (and only) choose 'Legacy' content when building characters. It's annoying but given how poorly the 2024 books are selling (despite WotC's claims), I'd imagine that it's a fiscal imperative for WotC to ensure that 2024 ruleset is the 'easiest' to use on their flagship site.
Most players are smart enough to handle choosing only 'Legacy' content much like if you were to disallow certain sourcebooks. Some DMs for example ban Strixhaven as a source at their tables - this is not wrong. In fact if that's what works for their table more power to them. In fact I tend to double down on ensuring that players are aware of the sources from which Feats, Spells, and suchlike are drawn from. I find when they know where something comes from they're actually more likely to have read (and hopefully understood) the actual wording of the different features. My most recent campaigns run on only 5e DMG, PHB, MM, TCoE, XGtE, and MMoM books (2014). No other source is allowed in that campaign. No 2024 books (5.5e), and no other books. As I can physically lend these books to players, it means everyone has access to the same content and no-one feels left out of the fun. If a player does choose a feature from outside of those sources all it usually takes is a quick word 'hey this comes from a disallowed source' and the player gets it and chooses something different.
