It is a minor devil or related to devils (the name does not include devil in the name)
I remember it spends most of its time in the material plane, pretending to be an archdevil, as it enjoys amassing following, servants, power and state or properties.
That is it! please help me, I know I'm not dreaming and I want to include it in my campaign because lore-wise is the best fit.
Hello, unfortunately I do not know a lot about the lore of the many many many different devils in D&D. (Basically I’m dumb and don’t know how to tell the difference between a devil and a archedevil unless its pointed out to me)So I’ve compiled a list of all the devils matching your description from the 2014 monster manual and monsters of the multiverse. Along with the 2024 Monster Manual. I hope this helps but I doubt it will.
Monster Manual (2014): - Pit Fiend (Litterally the only one that gets close although I doubt this is the one you are talking about)
Monsters of the Multiverse (2014): - Abishals (Again I doubt it but these guys are referred to as their color and then abishal so I counted them) (Ok now I’m surprised cuz that was the only devil with a two word name that didn’t ave devil in that entire book)
Monster Manual (but 2024) - Emprean Ioa (can be fiends or celestial but are cr 1 sooooooo) - Einyes (Just because I like them I will add them here :) ) - Rakshasa (Just feel like they’re an Huber able mention)
And that’s it. This is way shorter than I thought it would be. Hope this helps a bit at least and good luck finding your devil. Rip me if you already have.
The Arch Devil Moloch is/was trapped on the material plane (see Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes), every time he tries to enter the Nine Hells he gets demoted to an Imp. There is also the Demon Lord Fraz-Urb'Luu who was once imprisoned in Oerth (Greyhawk setting and also has info in Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes).
Going down the fiendish ranking you have Cambions, Night Hags (both in Monster Manual) and Barghest (see Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes) in that might qualify as well as well.
Thank you man, unfortunately, no. It's not any of these. I have checked all published monster lists and used several AI to no avail. At this point I'm thinking that it may be a fiend but not necessarily a devil. Or maybe an extraplanar entity? I don't know anymore. I hope someone else knows what I'm referring too with as little information as I have.
That's more than 4000 monsters and I could not find it there so... I guess I either imagined it or it must have been some sort of homebrew shit or something like that.
Still, if anyone happens to have seen what I mentioned and knows the name, please drop it here. In the meantime I will just homebrew what I need. Thx!

What is the context you heard about this devil or fiend or ?? Was it a pool party and it was mentioned or it was an old campaign you were in? Overheard the name & description on the subway????
That might help a little, if nothing else to point to a home brew.
I was cruising the web, (I cannot recall what page) and I came across a name that I did not recognize it was something nonrelated at all to devils or fiends but more like Adjective + sustantive that sounded interesting. When I clicked, as I did not know it, it explained that this was some kind of devil or was related to devils as it was some sort of envoy from hell to do a very specific task in the material plane, however, they like power too much and they decide to stay and pretend they are higher status, amassing followers, servants, states, etc.
I found it very interesting, but I thought it was a common enemy from DND that I could find again easily by searching devils, fiends or outsiders. Nopes. Cannot find it again and I will just homebrew it my own, I guess.
Ok, so it has a composed name (two words)

Is it the 'City Corruptor'??
