ey guys i started reading tales of the yawning portal and i don't get how the yawning portal itself is linked to the individual chapters, can someone explain? thanks in advance
Firstly The Yawning Portal as a building, it's an inn, a tavern, a hub for adventurers, and the place to find....The Yawning Portal.
The actual Yawning Portal is a giant hole in the ground. Adventuring into this hole in the ground allows adventurers access to various locations, mainly the ones you find exampled in the book "Tale from the Yawning Portal". However it is rumored that there are many other locations that have yet to be discovered, or...that adventurers simply haven't returned from.
The Yawning Portal Inn is a location in Waterdeep, best known as being an entrance to Undermountain. It attracts all kinds of people and adventurers. Each adventure in that book are literally tales told by adventurers at the Yawning Portal Inn. "Let me tell you about the time I found an old dwarven stronghold that was overrun by orcs..." (Forge of Fury)
Almost like a movie flashback. Adventurer starts telling the tale, then cut to the action. The adventures don't have to start that way, it's just how they assembled them into the book.
aaah ok i read more informations online its considered an adventure collection, it does make sense that the yawning portal is just the way they assembled the stories, thanks guys

The bar can just be used as a framing device but you can also find a chart for plot hooks in the intro.
