So...we all love random encounters right? Some DM's use them constantly while some prefer to continue stories and most battles are story oriented. So I come to you with a random encounter that you can retool to your liking.
Hold for flair text...
Across the glade, you see a large shaggy creature. It is lumbering in your direction....haphazardly. It seems lost...? No that can't be it. Looking closely you determine that it has a wooden implement stuck on its head. A bucket. A wooden bucket is stuck on the creatures head. Swinging around wildly, pawing at the ground, the bear is obviously upset with its predicament. Party has to make a choice. The beast can smell them, and starts haphazardly walking their way. Bumping into the party member if they do not move/take action. Removing the bucket reveals...that the bear underneath is actually an owlbear!!! Upset and confused it'll be ready for battle. Or, with some smooth animal handling, it'll be a friendly creature to the party and tag along for a day, maybe a battle, or just cause trouble! Everyone loves owlbears...! and why not have the entire forest know it!
This could also be used in a town center if you want some flair. Party comes across it stuck in the town center and wants to leave. Confused, upset, and stuck with a bucket on its head, the locals have started to pelt it with rocks. the party is there to try and remove the owlbear..alive or dead.
