Hello so I have a question to see if anyone else has come up with a solution or idea about taking one magical item and or non magical item and swapping out it's magical means to transfer to another item. My example a character already has a heirloom sword they are Rping with, we looted scimitar of haste from a treasure horde of a dragon, said person wants just the haste part of magical property off the scimitar to imbue it on their heirloom sword. My question is there a way already existing for this and if not what are some suggestions I can present to the character.
In 4e, there was a magical substance called "residium" that was the result of someone breaking down a magical item for its powers. A person could then use that residium to transfer those powers to a different item via some magical means. Arguably, you could use the same sort of deal now, just attach a reasonable price-tag to the work like, maybe half the cost of the original magic item, and then all the party has to do is find a wizard or some other mystical practitioner to do the transfer.
in the campaign that i am running, there is a powerful enchanting and crafting complex called the arcanists forge who can transfer enchantments in exchange for barter or money.the cost for the transfer is 1/2 to 2/3 the cost or the enchantment .
hope this helps
