So more of a question and idea thread here. How many of you have done a dnd game where the players played as kings, emperors, queens and rulers overall?
I am thinking about doing for the history of my world a full dnd game with players who meet once a month or so to deal with the state of affairs for their country and what they wish to do. Settle wars with dice rolls for major battles, supplies can be calculated, alliances made, and so on. Has anyone done this before or got any good recommendations?
Could reduce your nation to a class. E.g. make a character as normal, but play the results as a nation. A nation of wizards. A nation of wizards and fighters (multiclass).
There's probably already a game out there built for this kind of thing. I'd try finding a better rule set before trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.
Look up Birthright. It's not for 5e, but I'm sure you could convert it easily enough. Also, I am fairly certain they have a book on Strongholds and Followers, which would be beneficial to look into as well. Best of luck.
