This question is for anyone familiar with Strahd. I have a vampire coming up in my campaign and I'd like to tie him...or her to Strahd. So I can blend Curse of Strahd in as the next campaign. The campaign is currently in Faerun south east of Neverwinter. Does Strahd have any relatives or something I could key off of? Any thoughts are all welcomed. Thanks.
Relatives: Strahd von Zarovitch had a brother named Sergii. And he had a girlfriend who committed suicide.

Devious serpent folk devoid of compassion, yuan-ti manipulate other creatures by arousing their doubts, evoking their fears, and elevating and crushing their hopes. From remote temples in jungles, swamps, and deserts, the yuan-ti plot to supplant and dominate all other races and to make themselves gods.
Strahd became a vampire killing his brother Sergeii, drinking his blood and sealing a pact with the Dark Powers of Shadowfell. Currently, he has no living (or unliving) relatives.

I think filcat means Strahd has *no* living (or unliving) relatives.
But that doesn't mean your vampire can't be connected to CoS. It just means that you need to tweak the canon to fit your game. Mild spoiler in my idea, so I figured I'd hide it below just to be safe, but there's my suggestion. :-)
Strahd controls who is able to enter/exit his demiplane. He's also constantly looking for his "replacement".
I see no reason why he wouldn't send an emissary into the material plane looking for individuals who may be worthy of inheriting his title and status. Kind of like a talent scout. Make your vamp one of these emissaries and let them drop a hint or tie back in some way to Strahd.
ive been using an Ezmerelda-turned-vampire in this way. being vistana she's able to move freely out of Barovia to wherever and has lured my players into her masters domain.

That's actually a great idea. Too bad my players are in the midst of CoS, or I may have done something like that in an adventure prior.

So did Strahd make himself? Or was there something more powerful that turned him?

Yeah, sorry. The "no" escaped somehow ;-)
Nice Idea, Thanks!

Madam Eva is also Strahd's half sister.
