If your DM says so, then sure? Really more of a question for them. Rime of the Frostmaiden won’t be out for another month or so, so your DM won’t know yet whether having higher-level PCs at the start would be annoying.
i always thought it was a bummer that they do these fun intro encounters and then the actual modules start at level 1. silly. with soooo much low-level content out there, you'd think they'd start books at level 5.
...although not sure what the starting level for rime will be. have they announced it?

The intro encounters are written by D&D Beyond staff, who are not Wizards of the Coast. The intro encounters may level characters up, and the module itself may start at 1st level, but the people responsible for each of those are two different companies. WotC want the module to be everything a group need to run the module. They certainly don't want it to rely on players having played through an encounter series written by a third-party company.
Every hardcover adventure so far has started at first level, except for Dungeon of the Mad Mage, which is a loose sequel to Dragon Heist, and Rise of Tiamat, which is a more-direct sequel to Hoard of the Dragon Queen. Since Rime of the Frost Maiden is a standalone adventure, not a part two to anything prior, it's safe to assume it will start at 1st level (though there's always a chance that WotC will surprise us).

I understand who the writers are and the differences but think it furthers my point...soooo much low level content out there. i like hte storm king thunder model which really starts at 5 (with a quick 'okay if you need to get from 1-5, do this)... to elaborate - i'm not saying it'll change, i'm just saying it'll be a bummer if they make levels 1-5 significant to the story vs just being able to drop in at that point. although i do think i'm missing something as i read your second paragraph - it sounds like your answer to your original question. What's your question again if you didn't just answer it?
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere I could not find it.
will the characters that run through the ice breaker encounter of the week series be playable in the rime of the frostmaiden quest?
