Played around with my ipad mini last night, figured out if I open details page for monster entry I can have tabs open with monster name on tab. Sadly, doesn't fit full page on ipad, and when I tap on spell etc it stays open and I can't close it?
Played for years writing out stat block in notebook with page reference, seems to have worked ok so far but would like to use DDB if I can. I saw in another thread I can use campaign notes to insert links for monsters, but don't know how to do that yet. Sure someone will answer on that thread.
Tried file cards, what a mess! Too much paper already.
I'd like some tips on how specifically to use DDB to run monsters. It can't track HP, so I assume at least that part is still with pencil & paper.
I'd love to get a laptop, but not in my future. I know there are some general ipad issues, and hovering etc doesn't work on tablet from what I have seen.
It would be fantastic to coordinate DDB, notes, PC information, etc. Right now I have a combination of sticky notes on screen with PC info, adventure printed in binder, etc.
How are some of you folks putting all this together? Even with a laptop I can't see having 10+ tabs open at once?
Initiative tracker with HP and minor stats recorded ahead via a Google docs page, using passive initative so I don't have to futz with the order every combat. Open tabs for each pertinent monster. Works great on laptop, and hoping that the mobile app and web development continue to make it smoother.
If I only have my iPad, I use a piece of scratch paper for HP, but still manage to get by with safari tabs and Google Drive.

For initiative, do you mean monsters only or PC's as well? I started using variant last 2 games for monsters, really liked it.
Just google initiative tracker, or is there a specific one that works well?
I still like to roll dice, can't see that changing anytime soon!

On a single page of a Google Docs document, I have each of my PCs listed with their character details, in order by passive initiative. Then I insert monsters into the initiative order by their passive initiative, including their HP, AC, and attacks. It's nothing fancy, but this lets me keep track of initiative, monster details, and character traits at a glance.

First, I have a Chromebook and an Android tablet at the table. But I am still old-school.
I use DnD beyond with tabs open for Homebrew stuff, some monsters, unexpected spell search, etc.
I can run everything from DnD Beyond, but it is faster to have MM and other resources open to be able to see multi things at same time.

I tend to use printouts (or the Monster Manual). Or for basic mooks just scribble down AC, HP, Attack+ & dmg
