I am running a new campaign, we are two 7hr sessions in and have had some fun and warmed up to our new characters. Now comes more greater-world planning!
One of my players is a necromancer and I am planning on introducing the Red Wizards of Thay as an interest point for him, possibly even ending up with the party travelling into Thay if they want to do this. I have no solid plans at this stage, as I am putting out feelers as to what my characters are interested in.
I was wondering if there were any particular campaigns or one-shots or other resources out there that you guys would recommend, that would provide a bit more info about Thay, important places to explore, and the heirarchy and training of the Red Wizards?
Thanks in advance!
(I have not read most of the published campaign books, only played through snippets of several through various games as a player - so even telling me which of these would have a useful chapter would be great!)
In addition to that Dead in Thay, I'd recommend you try to get your hands on Lords of Darkness, Dreams of the Red Wizards, and Dragon magazine issue 366. All legacy, but things are pretty much as they were from a story perspective.
I recall one or two of the older Adventurers' League seasons was set in Mulmaster and the Moonsea region, and involved the Red Wizards. If you can get your hands on those adventures, which are probably still floating around on the web somewhere, they might have some inspiration.

My first suggestion when it comes to lore is to check out the Forgotten Realms wiki. Its a great resource for pretty much any D&D information.
Tales from the Yawning Portal - Dead in Thay.
