Looking for some feedack on this cursed item. Some background... I had mentioned to the player that getting a pistol would be difficult in the current setting. When he finally tracked on down I made several comments from the person he got it from along the lines of "You really want to buy that? Is Ritherford playing a prank on me or something?" He never asked for a roll to see what was up, or pushed for more info so.... He got a cursed pistol.
Here's what it does:
"This pistol is a compact 3 shot pistol that looks aged and slightly pitted but is currently well maintained.
When it's fired for the first time, and overtime until the save is failed, it's wielder will need to pass a DC15 Charisma save. On pass the gun functions as a normal pistol with a reload/misfire of 3/1
On a fail the wielder starts hearing a whiny voice in their head saying something along the lines of "Yeah! You picked me, you picked me! We''ll be together forever!" From that point on every time they draw a weapon they must succeed on a DC12 Charisma save or they are compelled to draw the Terror. Every time they try to draw a weapon they hear something along the lines of "Pick me, pick me, I'm all you ever need to use!"
On a failed save when they are compelled to draw the Terror. It functions as a +2 weapon (+2 to hit/ +2 damage) with a reload/misfire rate of 3/2. The wielder must empty the chamber before taking any other attack action. If the gun misfires the wielder will be able to sheath the weapon but doing so will cause 1d10+2 psychic damage.
On a passed save they are able to draw the intended weapon.
When it's wielder chooses to draw the Terror it functions as a normal 3 shot pistol.
If the wielder tries to trick the Terror to function as a +2 weapon by intentionally drawing a different weapon when they need the pistol, or intentionally failing a save they will make a competing intelligence check with the Terror (+2 Int bonus for the pistol) On a failed save the wielder suffers 2d10+2 psychic damage."
