I created a katana for one of my players and as this one was magic I gave it a higher die size and the usual crit range change. The explanation I was given is that it was considered a base item, which is simply not true. Any way to remedy this?
you don't need to publish homebrew for it to be used in a campaign that you are part of - your player will be able to use it without it being published to public homebrew.
We have a policy that new standard items and "base weapons" are not allowed.

D&D Beyond FoundersI've just rejected it again, please do not submit non-magical items to be published.
You have taken a regular longsword as the base item, then given it a name of "Katana" and written in the description " Crit range -1 (19-20)"
