I think having multiple categories definitely helped to avoid ties. The only one I noticed was a tie for second place in the DM category.
I more than welcome playing with some changes or reorganizing voting for the next competition though to get a feel for what might make the community the happiest. That being said, since Boring Bard won this competition, I will leave it up to them to decide how they want to do voting in the next round, although I recommend all three winners discuss this.

Thanks to everyone who looked at my submission, I'm so glad people liked it! I have a couple questions about starting the next competition that I'll post when I get back home later today, and I'll try and get it going this week or next. One quick question before I ask a few more later, can we agree to start a "Don't vote on yourself," honor-system, or do people not want that?

Id be fine with codifying that into the rules for voting, as listed at the start of each competition.
Edit. Also, from the earlier conversation I am all for rebranding "Formatting" as "Presentation" and "Balance" as "Mechanics" to open up their interpretations a little bit more. I agree it is worthwhile to award points for unique/interesting mechanical choices whereas a sense of balance might be hard to pin down.
Really sad that these Formatting votes actually caused me to not win the category...
Congrats to you though, BoringBard! You deserved the win with your adventure, that was anything but boring :-) (I already have given you some feedback, might DM you for more if I get a chance to DM it ^^)
Ok guys, I'm sorry but I have a lot of questions about being judge, I really think we should make a FAQ for this, but anyway, here are my questions:
1. When I start the next competition, do I just copy & paste everything from the previous competition and update as needed? 2. I don't know if you guys have noticed this, but for ages, the link to the first competition in the "Previous Competition" section hasn't worked. Should I just ignore this or is there a way to find a solution? 3. So when I start a private message thread with the other category winners, (which I'll try and do tomorrow in case those people are wondering) how do I make sure we don’t repeat categories? 4. Just saying, I suck with tech, I may need some help on creating the google forms for voting.
5. Is there a special thing to use to do the math to calculate the score for each contestant? And I don't know whether I'm going to be able to put out who won and stuff minutes after voting ends? 6. Do I get to decide what voting system we use? How involved should the other competition winners be with that? Should I keep you guys updated & discussing my ideas for a new voting system on this thread? I think how interesting and cool an adventure is is far more important than how evocative it is, and what do you guys think of my previous voting proposal?
7. I've seen overwhelming support for installing a "Don't vote for yourself" honor system, so unless anyone objects, I think I'm gonna add that.
I'm really sorry to bombard you guys for questions, and it really means a lot, a lot to see how much you guys liked my adventure. It's the first one I made! But anyways, I think we really should have a section explaining things to future judges, in case they win when they're newish to the competition. I might make one when I figure out how this works sometime:)
PS/edit: Congrats to the other category winners, you did great:)

Yep
2. I don't know if you guys have noticed this, but for ages, the link to the first competition in the "Previous Competition" section hasn't worked. Should I just ignore this or is there a way to find a solution?
I have noticed. I dont think the original thread exists, so I dont know if it can be fixed
3. So when I start a private message thread with the other category winners, (which I'll try and do tomorrow in case those people are wondering) how do I make sure we don’t repeat categories?
I think the place listing the old competition links also lists their categories.
4. Just saying, I suck with tech, I may need some help on creating the google forms for voting.
Can do. I can help with that when it comes up.
5. Is there a special thing to use to do the math to calculate the score for each contestant? And I don't know whether I'm going to be able to put out who won and stuff minutes after voting ends?
It takes some rearranging to do. Dont worry if you cant get it out super quickly.
Up to you. At the least, I would discuss it with the other winners
7. I've seen overwhelming support for installing a "Don't vote for yourself" honor system, so unless anyone objects, I think I'm gonna add that.

Oh, that'd be because Yamana_Eajii deleted the thread. The link isn't incorrect, the thread just doesn't exist anymore.
Ok everybody:) I've started the PM thread to decide the next contests categories, and thanks to you all for helping answer my questions! I tried to get it done today, but I didn't have time, so tomorrow I'll be talking more about the voting system I proposed earlier, and asking what you guys think of it. I've also asked the other competition winners what they think of it, since you guys sadI'm supposed to talk to them about that kind of stuff:)
