I've been a D&D forever DM for a year now and for the last few months me and my friends, who've been massive fans of the boderlands video-game series have got the Bunkers and Badasses official content. (A dlc of the second game)
Instead of doing the campaigns in the book they asked me to do my own take on BL4. Which is going well so far. But I'm trying to think of pop culture references to use as characters, quests and weapons. Any ideas you're willing to share?
It completely depends on your group, sense of humour is very subjective. One group might find a caricature of Trump or Musk hilarious another might get up in arms about it. And the references they will get depend hugely on the age of the group, Monty Python have a ton of hilarious characters you could ape but if it is a group of young people they might not get it.
Their ages are 20+, and not the kind of people to get up in arms over making a joke in regards to the likes of Trump or Musk. But the Monty Python collection would be a good idea. Thank you for that idea.

Oof, that's hard. They like to mock real pop culture figures in BL. Maybe do a caricature of Elon Musk or someone like that?

Monty Python and Terry Pratchett are excellent sources for funny characters for NPCs.
