Traits. Magic Resistance: The Brain Eater has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Shapechanger. The Brain Eater can use its action to polymorph into the beast form of a toad, or into its aberration form. Its statistics are the same in each form, although its attack is different in some of them. Any equipment it carries is not transformed. If slain, the Brain Eater reverts to its aberration form.
Actions. Tentacles (tounge in beast Form): Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d4 + 3) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 10 Wisdom saving throw or take 5 (2d4) psychic damage and become poisoned (through mind) for 1 minute. The creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect early on a success.
Break Mind (1/Day): One creature of the Brain Eater’s choice within 20 feet of it must succeed on a DC 10 Wisdom saving throw or become insane for 1 minute. If a creature is insane It has to roll a d20 to find out where it will walk [(1-5 it walks left, 6-10 it walks right, 11-15 it walks straight ahead, 16-20 it walks back)it will walk and will walk as far as possible in each of Its turns] and it has disadvantage on every spell, the creature also has disadvantage on every ability check. The creature can't understand what others are saying, can't read and it only can speak gibberish. The creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, with disadvantage if the Brain Eater is within line of sight, ending the effect early on a success.
Invisibility: The Brain Eater turns invisible until it attacks or uses Break Mind, or until its concentration ends. Anything the invisible Brain Eater is carrying or wearing is invisible as long as it remains in contact with the Brain Eater.
Funfact: after a Brain Eater has killed someone he extracts the Brain of the corpse
So what do you think, ist this good ore unbalanced?
The Brain Eater looks Like a flying ctulhu head with bat wings and only one vertical eye in the middle of the head.
Edit: I Made him a Shapechanger and nerft his Break Mind ability
The imp and quasit have the same attack, wisdom safes are very common and the normal strong creatures in a campain usually have an okay Wisdom modifier.
Edit: I wanted to know If the Break Mind ability is to strong.
Imps do not give the poisoned condition and quasits only give it for one round.
Break mind looks situationally powerful, as the creature could provoke many opportunity attacks and leave melee, preventing it from attacking. It seems pretty powerful for a familiar.
But what if i take away the poison and change the Break mind ability into this:
Break Mind (1/Day): One creature of the Brain Eater's choice within 30 feet of it must succeed on a DC 10 Wisdom saving throw and take (5)2d6+3 psychic damage.
But what if i take away the poison and change the Break mind ability into this:
Break Mind (1/Day): One creature of the Brain Eater's choice within 30 feet of it must succeed on a DC 10 Wisdom saving throw and take (5)2d6+3 psychic damage.
Ist it good now?
Seems fine.

So it is balanced? Because nobody answerd.
Pls answer
Seems too powerful. It has a wisdom save against the poisoned condition, which is a rare proficiency with a powerful debuff.
The imp and quasit have the same attack, wisdom safes are very common and the normal strong creatures in a campain usually have an okay Wisdom modifier.

About the Imp, your right. But i copied the text (about the Attack) from the quasit, so the quasits poisen lasts for one minute.
You must've looked at the old version of the quasit.
Seems fine.
