To summarize, I am looking to guarantee that the homebrew items I've made are up to standard and are enjoyable to use for both players and DMs, it's something wholly unique and I want to make sure I don't create something frustrating to use. While I will provide their unpublished drafts, I will state some necessary details anyways, although I will happily take suggestions to change, add, or remove from the spell and species. By the way, yes I am aware of the monster Living Doll from an official source, but that is a monster, and will be lightly related to the spell and species.
Animate Dolls spell - https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/2343426-animate-dolls This summoning spell is available to wizards, warlocks, and sorcerers, and uses materials associated to the doll the caster is looking to summon. Once summoned, the dolls will follow the command of the caster, the complexity limit of said commands is linked to the caster's own level. The final complexity level allows the caster to effectively create a whole new character outright.
Living Doll species - https://www.dndbeyond.com/species/1622489-living-doll The species associated and summoned by the spell "Animate Dolls", is created and can only be healed by the materials associated with their subspecies, and does not require rations. The following subspecies will state the materials for creation and healing, their unique stats, and unique abilities of their subspecies.
Plush Doll subspecies - https://www.dndbeyond.com/species-options/817942-plush-doll Made of the following materials: 2 fabric | 2 stuffing | 2 string (General terms to refer to any related material, ex: stuffing includes cotton and wool). Has the following unique stats: +2 Intelligence, +2 Charisma. Has the following unique abilities: 2× Resistance to physical attacks, including bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing. Has the following unique flaws: 2× Vulnerability to elemental attacks, including fire, acid, and electricity | Movement slows and has disadvantage when soaked in water.
Porcelain Doll subspecies - https://www.dndbeyond.com/species-options/817948-porcelain-doll Made of the following materials: 3 clay | 2 plaster | Water (Water needs to be present, any amount is acceptable). Has the following unique stats: +2 Wisdom, +2 Dexterity. Has the following unique abilities: 2× Resistance to elemental attacks, including fire, acid, and electricity. Has the following unique flaws: 2× Vulnerability to physical attacks, including bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing.
Wooden Doll subspecies - https://www.dndbeyond.com/species-options/817939-wooden-doll Made of the following materials: 3 wood | 3 metals. Has the following unique stats: +2 Strength, +2 Constitution. No unique abilities, generally a tank build with slower speed
Additional Notes: - Because of the species and implications of the spell, yes, the Living Doll species can be used to make characters, as it's implied in the final complexity level that the dolls will venture on their own if their summoner is an unfavorable, likely abusive leader - Thinking of adding a 4th subspecies, Android dolls, for technological classes including Artificer
