My Custom Reaction!

Can someone help me word this just right for a Red Dragon I'm working on?

Reaction

Pack Predation. Trigger: The dragon is forced to make a Constitution saving throw against a spell or other magical effect while a willing or Incapacitated ally is within 10 ft. of it. Response: the dragon can take a Reaction to devour one ally within 10 ft., instantly killing that creature. The dragon then gains Advantage on the triggering saving throw.

Seems pretty good. All you need to do is change it to "Response: the dragon devours one ally within 10 ft of it, . . . " Specifying in the description of the reaction that you need to take a reaction to use it is redundant.

 Thank you, but I'm mostly stuck feeling that 10ft. mentioned twice is also redundant, I wonder if I should only say it once but don't know where it should go

 I think the only time you need to state the range is in the devouring an ally part.

I get that but at the same time I feel it should be in both spots how would you word it?

Thank You, also if you can answer 1 questions about magic items and charges, sometimes the charges that are being used don't match the Level of the spell, Like say you use 1 charge to cast a level 5 spell like Banishing Smite or something do you know why is that
