So I'm leading a party of 8 through a campaign that I planned to take about 6 to 7 marathon sessions. We are all newbies so some of the rules might have gotten. "adjusted/ forgotten" during our first session since it got a little crazy managing everything. I desided to help myself for the next one by actually setting up my campaign on dnd beyond and seeing how it goes.
I acedently gave my sorcerer a +2 ac magic stick in stead of a +2 ac shield that was ment for my cleric. I desided to roll with it though since it might make a nice side quest to find more magic items and create a super powerful staff from this stick. (If the player wants to) so my question is this: if I add an orb of Carisma( +2), a rope(something to tie the orb to the stick) of spell storing (1 lvl 4 spell slot that must be filled by casting the spell on the rope) will this be OP for a sorcerer?? Giving her to mutch spellcasting ability??
Magical items are weaker in 5e than in previous editions, so a staff that provides a +2 to armor is already pretty powerful. It's equivalent to Armor +2 which is a very rare item. If you add in a +2 to Charisma and spell storing it's probably a legendary item akin to Staff of the Magi. The DMG says you should get your first very rare item around level 11 and legendary at 17th level.
