So I have a player who's putting together a variant Aasimar Warlock who's chosen The Celestial as his patron. Very angelic.
Anyway that combination get's the Light cantrip bestowed upon them twice, first from the variant Aasimar's Celestial Legacy feature, and then again from his Warlock's "The Celestial" choice for a Patron gives it to him again as part of his Bonus Cantrips.
We discussed it, as well as how he's going to play the character, and I was trying to figure out a way to swap in a version of the "Spare the Dying" cantrip in place of one of the doubled up Light cantrips. I thew it together in the Homebrew section and called it "By the Grace of my Patron" and restricted it to Celestial Warlocks, but I can't seem to find a way to swap it into his character sheet. It shows up as a cantrip for him to select, but since neither of the Light cantrips on his character sheet were actually selected, I don't seem to be able to swap it in for one of them.
Is this just a limitation of the character builder, or am I missing something?
The homebrew system allows you to use existing content as a template to start from.
The other options is to create a homebrew feat that adds another cantrip. You can assign this feat to the character, outside of normal progression, through the character sheet.
Yep, I found it mostly to be pretty simple. Though I am having difficulty getting a tooltip to my "By the Will of My Patron" cantrip to show up. I swapped the Light cantrip out for it no problem, just can't seem to figure out how to get a tooltip for homebrew to work. Not exactly sure how formatting works for a multi-word spell name.
I may just end up leaving it as plaintext. The cantrip is there. after all.
Appreciate the help with this though.

Since the problem is that light is granted automatically by race and class, you will have to homebrew one of them and replace the light cantrip there.
Remember, you do not have to publish the homebrew to use it in your campaign.
Wan't aware I could homebrew an entire race or class. Good to know. It'd be a lot of work for such a minor tweak, but I'll talk to my player about it.
Thanks.
It may not be as much work as you think!
