I'm creating a new world for a home brew and struggling with naming a town. The idea is this: it's a gnomish town in the hills, which also has a whole host of Dragonborn living and working there. This is the only place on the continent where Dragonborn are, and while was originally a gnomish town, the Dragonborn appeared (running from the BBE) just as the gnomes were about to be besieged by giants. The Dragonborn helped fight them off, and then settled in the town for mutual benefit between the two races.
I figured since it was a gnomish town it would have a gnome based name, but wanted it to stand out given the strange recent history. So some sort of mix of gnomish and draconian name? Maybe hyphenated? Maybe the previous name was discarded in favour of a new one to establish the change in the society?
I would make my Gnomish based on Latin, because it is a very technical language, so the Common "Three green hills" town, would be tribus viridi collis or "Tribiviricoll" in Gnomish. Dragonborn could call it "Emerald Hills" or perhaps after their victory over the giants "Giantsbane".

Another idea would be to have the name reference the joining of the two races in the town. Maybe something like "Jungo" (to stick with the Latin idea, as "iungo" in Latin means to join), or even something in common like "Twomen" (or if you want the name to look more natural, corrupt it to "Toman" or "Toomin").

Hey everyone,

Any ideas?

Sounds good thanks!
Can't go wrong with the website fantasy name generators, in general, for most names.
There's even a Roman town name generator if you want to go with the Latin theme ( which I think is a cool idea ).
