So one of my players just got a magical tattoo that gives them a bonus cantrip. I'm trying to make a Feat that gives them their chosen cantrip - Thorn Whip. Thorn Whip is in the Player's Handbook which our Campaign group has access to (someone owns it, another has sharing enabled for us, so we're good there) - however, when I go to try to create a Feat, "Thorn Whip" is not available under the spells list when trying to add a spell the standard way. Other cantrips from the PHB are available, such as Produce Flame or Shillelagh, while Thorn Whip is not.
Something I'm missing? Any advice? If I can't get this working, is there another way I can grant them Thorn Whip through DDB?
Pretty sure! Here's a ss. Additionally, I tried adding just "Cantrip" with Artificer/Druid spell classes to see if it'd let me select it from a list (shown in SS), but that didn't work either, it wasn't on the list. It doesn't work with or without those added in. Additionally, I can't add it to my druid character's cantrips, but I have all other PHB options available.
I had the same issue when I made my druid, Thorn Whip did not appear as an option until after I got to second level and was able to choose a bonus cantrip for being Circle of Land.

When creating homebrew, you can only use content that you personally own.
Content that is shared with you is not available for use in homebrew.
Ah. Maybe I could add Thorn Whip at level 2 because one of the people in the campaign shared content. Odd that that spell isn't available for free.

Oof yeah, if you don't even own the basics, like the PHB, that'll limit you. (this is why I support encouraging the party to let the DM 'own' the material and all pitch in as necessary. Not always viable though, I fully understand)
However, I think you can create a homebrew version of the spell and make it work the same way, then add the homebrew spell to the homebrew feat.

I'm not having this issue. Are you sure you're trying to just add it as a spell?

Interesting. Shouldn't cause this issue, but thanks for the input! Might be why mine can't.
