I'm going to start a campaign that takes place entirely underground and one of the most common creatures is going to be the Gremlins. They have a very big advantage when near the 'Fog', which will be a specific type of environment. I plan to create more Gremlins that are not only stronger but also more dynamic. To be honest, the numbers (attributes, bonuses, etc.) are making me a little confused, does anyone have a good tutorial or guide on this? Thanks in advance.
I would say that it should be Cr 1/4. Challenge rating does NOT match up to class level. Take a look at the goblin, and then at a Cr 1 monster. It is definitely Cr 1. Take a look at the dungeon masters guide, chapter 9 I think. All about homebrew. There should also be guides on this forum (Homebrew and House rules).

Obs: uh I think the title would be better with 'monster' instead of 'race', sorry...
