Bree is a bit disappointed she couldn't cast two spells at once and that the spell that came out didn't work as well as she would have thought: "You are supposed to be more affected by that silly orc". And seeing Sila is doing fine for herself Bree hurls a fire bolt to Orc2.
Garavant attempts to nimbly step aside as the orc tries to throw him to the ground. And fails miserably! The other orc lands a strike, and he grimaces in pain.
Nevertheless, he pops up off the ground, glances at the owl over the orc's (Orc2) shoulder and grins. "Get him owl lass!" he snarls, trying to dupe the orc into distraction. Then, he strikes!
OOC: I wasn't sure on rules for standing up, but the rules seem to say it just costs half you speed to do so and doesnt' provoke anything. If necessary, can use Disengage as bonus action to move while avoiding OAs.
Rapier Attack: 13 Damage: 6 Sneak Attack Damage (I believe having the owl there counts as ally w/in 5 feet, right?) 6
Garavant springs to his feet and strikes back at orc2, his subterfuge and co-opting of Artemis allowing him the slightest of windows through the enemy’s defences. His rapier pierces the orc’s armpit and into his chest, ruining a number of important organs; another guard falls.
(OOC: Yes I’m happy to give sneak attack for Artemis counting as an ally, and your half movement to leave Prone did not take you out of the enemy’s melee reach so did not prompt an AOO. Good recovery and kill!)
Lucy’s move into the melee tips the odds in favour of the adventurers, and seeing orc2 fall to Garavant’s blade as she arrives, switches targets to orc4(OOC: hope this was OK). She only lands a glancing blow but it does wound the orc, and a jet of green arcane flame bursts into the air, rolling harmlessly across the ceiling with no target to find.
Silahandles her daggers with fine-tuned skill and her feints nearly catch orc3flat-footed. However, the seasoned fighter jinks away from the first attack and looks ready to make a swing with his axe when schlkttt – the follow-up strike comes from nowhere to rise up and through his lower jaw, pinning his skull together (OOC the crit did 10 damage after the bonus dice was adjusted).
Breealso has to adjust her attack to a different target as only one orc now remains. Maybe the mid-gesture shift is what throws her off, for the mote of fire flies wide and into the stone wall. Clumps of moss crackle as if in pain, but no orc flesh is found.
Orc4, seeing that he is now the only guard left and deciding that he needs to gather help, switches target to Lucy in an effort to clear an exit for himself. The greataxe slices air on its way towards (he hopes) elf bones Attack: 12 Damage: 14 but the attack is weak and easily avoided by the skilled bladesinger. Orc4 bellows in rage; he sees the end approaching...
Garavant looks to finish off the last of the orcs. There's little flair in his actions now as he and Lucy look to press the advantage. As the orc glances toward Lucy, Garavant strikes once more.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Lucy effortlessly dodges the strike and sneers at the guard. "What was that? You couldn't have hit me even if I stood still" She attacks the last Orc in case Garavant's death blow isn't deadly enough.
Sila darts around to the side of the last orc with her short sword in case the others don't finish it off followed by an unarmed strike as a bonus action.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Looks like it doesn't come to Bree's turn 🥳)
After the orc is down Bree get's back to the chore of cutting off ears. "That went pretty good! I think we are becoming a well oiled machine together." After cutting of the ears she will start searching the room for anything interesting (Investigation: 19)
Garavant has dropped all pretense of art in his final attack, but it is no less deadly. As the orcopens up to swing at Lucy, the rogue takes his opportunity and flashes his rapier forward, piercing the orc through the heart and killing him instantly.
(Please add 200xp each, quick and lethal as ever!)
While the rest of the party remain locked in their battle stances, Breesets to work retrieving proof of their victory before turning her attention to the rest of the room.
The room turns out to be quite the treasure trove. The orcs have 220 gp stashed in an old iron cauldron under vermin-infested bedding, while a small pouch in another orc’s bedding contains a topaz worth 200 gp and two onyx stones worth 50 gp each (OOC: Add 130gp each to account for a share of the riches).
But the last thing you notice is the most interesting...

“Thank you.Getting rather tight in there.I don’t mind the dark at all, but I do mind the kicks they would throw my way from time to time.My name is Gruenic.I have travelled here from the area around Mirabar. They kept asking if I had heard anything about some fancy blades that some humans brought up from downstairs, if I knew anything about em.Mostly I think they liked beating the crap out of me, calling me a bastard, saying I’m not a true orc and therefore weak, didn’t deserve to live.Until you came along I didn’t think I would make it through the night.”
As he talks he stands up, stretching, you see a 6 foot half orc with black hair and green eyes.He looks over and sees a second sack which contains his gear, and most importantly his shield, that has a symbol of the moon on it.“Selune told me that I would find you here.I dreamed about you, you see.I grew up alone, always felt at home in the night, but she told me that I was meant for something more. She told me “Go and protect people in my name, remove the fear of the night, of darkness, of hidden monsters that lurk in the dark.Protect my people and I will reward you.”I wasn’t expecting to be waylaid by this group of orcs, they surprised me.At one point they mentioned this large fearsome ogre named Great Ulfe and a large breed of orc called an orog, one specifically called Old Yarrack that they were afraid of.I didn’t know if they meant to feed me to him.But I had dreams about all of you, I just didn’t know that I would meet you like this....”.

Sila pulls her first dagger out of the Orc's eye with an awkward pop and gazes at the eyeball still stuck to it, sighs and pinches it gently between two fingers and slides it carefully off of the blade trying to avoid more fluids leaking out for her to clean up. The second she tugs free from his chest. Having held onto the daggers from the other when she made her strikes, she proceeds to clean them. Then aids in the search of the room.
Discovering a bag that appears to be occupied, she unravels the rope at the mouth of it quickly and pulls the opening wide. Reaching her hand out to steady the discovered half-orc, but finds he's quite fit and strains her neck as he stands a full foot taller than her. She takes a step back wondering how they managed to get the massive orc in the bag in the first place. Listening to his tale and grinning at his banter with his deity she says, "My name is Sila. This is Garavant, Bree, Lucy and her flying friend Artemis."Gesturing to each of them in turn. "I'm glad you survived the ordeal, we have much to talk about I'm sure, but first if you'll let me check you over? I'll tend to any injuries you may still have at their abuse. I'm betting it was a lucky trick to catch you unaware at all." medicine5She passes him her waterskin and trail mix from her rations. "and you must be hungry."

(ooc very interested in precious stones - Sila will trade out 100 of her own gold for the two onyx stones if the party will allow her to. She hopes to come up with 200 more to trade for the topaz as she's has a particular skill with jewelers tools - please let me know if any objections. @DM assuming gems found are considered cut?)
“Thank you Sila, that would be much appreciated. I am glad to meet all of you. They clubbed me over the head and managed to stuff me in this big sack. All the rest is a blur, punches, kicks and a lot comments about my mother. Glad to see that you handled them. That one should have kept an eye out for you...”. Gruenic shows you his injuries, a bunch of cuts, bruises and hematomas, but nothing serious, he appreciates the bandages. He is stretching and getting used to being out of a confined space again. He is hungry as they did not feed him, he nods when you offer him a snack.
"Yikes! Do any of these barbarians know the word laundry!" Lucy tries to findjust a little bit less dirty orc clothes. She wants to wipe her rapier clean but it's not an easy job. "Anyway, nice killing, Gravant. I like your last strike" Lucy grins to her comrades. "Now, let's do a little math. We were told that about two dozen orcs are living in this stronghold. Fifteen were down. But nine to ten of them are still alive. And that includes one ogre and two direwolf. It will be a tough battle. I have already used half of my spell. Bree wouldn't be too different. Agh, if we have more caster…and if he is a big and tough meat shield, the situation would have been much bett…er…?" Just then Sila opens a bag, a big and tough half orc cleric comes out from it. Lucy is too surprised to say anything. She is watching the conversation between the monk and the monk for roughly one minute. Suddenly she comes to her sence. The bladesinger looks up at the ceiling and says. "Ah…thanks for your cleric,Lady of Silver! By the way, please remember that I really want a new magic rapier and leather armor! " She thinks for a moment and continues."Also some magic rings and scrolls, if possible!"
“I am sorry that I have none of these things to give you. Selune may bless you with these things, but in her own sweet time and way. I hope that I can help you, there is strength in numbers. But before I do, can I ask what are you doing here? I was kidnapped and beaten for information that I didn’t have, I have heard rumors of the things they mentioned, but how did you all end up here? I have a strong arm, can wield a war hammer, and I can heal you with my lady’s blessings. I would like to join you, if you are not an evil sort, such as these...”. Gruenic shows you his war hammer, puts back on his chain mail, and polished off this shield. He gathers a few things off the table from his pack that the orcs had been rummaging through, puts them back in his pack and puts it on.

Garavant gives a slight bow in response to Lucy's kind words. "Well fought as well, Lucy,"he says.
"And it seems that Sila is truly a dagger maestro." He gives the monk a nod.
Garavant's eyes gleam at the sight of gold coins and jewels, and he's more than willing to take more coins at Sila's suggestion.
"Aye, with coin it's simply easier to conduct business," he says. He takes a moment to check the scratch left by the orc and realizes it is a relatively minor wound. (20/24)
He's more than a little surprised at their other discovery, a half-orc cleric/dream prophet!
"Well met Gruenic," he says, extending his hand for a shake. "I'll admit I've never understood the gods, but I'm glad to have a man of faith with us. We've taken on the job of ridding this place of orcs. Glad that meant we could get you out of that bag as well."
"As much as I'd like to leave this room," wincing slightly at the smell, "and I'm sure our new companion would too. Perhaps we should take a short rest at least and refresh a little?" Sila says looking about at the group.
"Greunic, you'll find we are a good sort, a little rough around the edges here and there, but have good intentions. Besides a grisly collection of ears which we need as proof of a job done, you'll find us good company." She says to avoid any concerns he may have upon discovering it in the future.
With introductions complete, the group seem keen to take a rest at this point - everyone process a Short Rest please and roll in here if you use any hit dice to heal.
Bringing the map forward from earlier, you are at the blue diamond and now have two realistic options, both to the west: closed door (red diamond) or open corridor (green diamond):
(Sila isn't really in the corridor, I just left the token there)
Gruenic says "I have no problem if you are taking the ears off of evil creatures such as these. Who are you doing this for, did someone ask for this ear collection as proof?" He settles down to rest and relax for an hour, meditating, praying, and tending to his wounds. At the end of that time he's ready to go.
"I was completely turned around in here, I have no idea which way to go. I will leave that up to you guys." He readies his shield and warhammer.
